Durham Big Meeting

The ‘real enemy’ do me a favour.

Driving wedges between families! over the top nonsense

The gala should be about celebrating tradition, hard working miners and the fantastic communities they were and we were part of!!!

Not turned in a political hate campaign!

Even if it has it should be about working together not enemies!
It’s left me at the moment but who destroyed said communities ?

What’s that got to do with anything?

The fact he had what appears to be a privileged upbringing means it’s all the more likely he would grow to despise people like us.

Yet he doesn’t, he’s actively campaigned all of his political life for working class people and for fairness and equality across the board.
As I said branners, right wing fruit front will reply as expected every time

Taken from Alan Mardghum’s piece in today’s Souvenir Programme from The Big Meeting.

It’s a message that more than a few on here would do well to read and remember who the real enemy is.

“It is particularly important that we remember where we come from in these days when the far right of politics is raising its ugly head once again.

Our commitment to unity and solidarity is based on respecting and defending our people and our communities.

The far right agenda seeks to divide us from those collective endeavours - setting communities against each other and driving wedges between families.

These actions are orchestrated international by the super rich. They have one clear intention - the oppression and subjugation of organised, working class politics across the globe.

Only last month, Donald Trump was promoting private, foreign ownership of our NHS while being feted by a Tory government.

Brexit is another prime example of this divisive movement.

We are distracted from the real issues facing our communities and families while the Tories drag us through the political mire.

The Tories started this mess and cannot get us out of it.

We should not fall for the rhetoric of big business and the agenda of the self-interested right.

The only solution is a General Election and the return of a socialist government led by Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell.

We must return to politics that serve our people and our communities.

Labour values are our values - rooted in collective effort and progress for our children and our children’s children.”
Total crap!

It was pretty lairy later on

We were getting a cab back, and there was a bunch of pissed lads in the taxi queue calling the drivers every racist name under the sun. There were a couple of police there but rather than intervene they were trying to persuade the asian cab drivers to get the racists out of the city.

All got very unpleasant. We spoke to the 2 police on, and they explained that there were hardly any police in duty and there wasn't enough of them to keep order, their only job was to try and stop it kicking off too badly

We ended up walking home rather than get a cab as it was just too unpleasant. Not a great night.
Black cab drivers are well known for being awful. I'd avoid them at all costs but no need to stoop to racism like.

All the hillbillies coming to the small smoke and worshiping man’s red fire. Residents of Stanley excluded cos they haven’t discovered it yet.

A scathing attack on free market capitalism- sounds like Comrade Laura wants out of the EU. Glad she’s finally backing her working class constituents.

Hates the Jews, hates Ashley.
Bizarre bunch

Zero evidence brought forward to prove that.

Lost interest at the word comrade. Absolute arseholes of the highest order

Aye, what a set of arseholes eh, caring for their fellow man....... Solidarity and fraternity not your thing I take it?

Oh my god. Stop it man. Unbeleivable craic. Nauseating

The working class movement is nauseating to you is it?

Perhaps the Bullingdon Boys Forum is more your thing then?

Saw an interesting documentary the other day about Mad Cow Disease.

I didn’t know this but until 1980, school meals had to contain 33% of a child’s nutrition for the day. This meant it had to be balanced, healthy etc.

Thatcher came along and in the Education Act scrapped the idea that school meals had to have any nutritional value whatsoever.

This meant education authorities (or the private companies brought in to make the school dinners) would then often buy in (unknowingly) meat that had been mechanically recovered on the basis that it was cheap. This stuff contained things like spines and other offal that wouldn’t normally be used - and which happened to be the most infected part of cattle with BSE.

As a result nobody who lived in the UK between 1980 and 1996 can give blood abroad.

Jesus, you really don’t f***ing get it do you? It is staring so obviously at you, right between the eyes, yet somehow you’ve let it go completely over your head

Unless you’re pro-right wing?

I just thing the gala, should be a celebration of the tradition of the communities and remberance.

Not hate or taking about enemies.

I am fan of working together for a amicable solution to suit all, not creating a them and us culture, you would think we at civil war it was over the top nonsense

It’s left me at the moment but who destroyed said communities ?

The current government had nothing to do with it whatsoever

It was more down to a evil woman who did not give a fuck about the hard working miners
