Nonsense
Really don’t understand this lack of appreciation for non league football
South Shields fans are Shields fans because they’re from South Shields or follow the club
Clearly it has driven more fans because of success on the pitch but comments like this are just silly
Ignore them mate. It's like little bairns bitching on. Shields are doing fine and it's a good atmosphere there, with most being Sunderland fans really. It sounds like, generally, most people from both teams last night enjoyed it. Just people today, making themselves look silly by name calling.Nonsense

Aye, and how many did we get in the late 80s? About 25% of what we got in the Premier lezgue. This is pathetic, Sunderland supporters being holier than thou about their local non league club. Talk about insecurity.Genuinely how many were Shields pulling in on Saturday afternoon 7 or 8 years back?
They hate Sunderland more than the mags do mateSandies = Mags
52%/48%South Shields has never been 50/50 imho

To be fair there are a lot of local non league clubs far closer to Sunderland than South Shields. Sunderland RCA (Where I will be tomorrow), Ryhope CW and Sunderland West End who have just been promoted to the Northern League to name just three.[/QUOTE
And I wish them well, as should all Sunderland supporters. What people are trying to do making up some mythical rivalry with Shields is beyond me. I was born closer to Roker Park than a lot of Sunderland people, but in South Shields. There is a lot of Sunderland supporters from South Tyneside including Shields. Let's face it, Sunderlands main centre of operations is in South Tyneside.
Like I said that’s what it sounded like to me, but it does prove the mags were there.
My dad was the same with Sunderland and Shields. He held a season ticket with Sunderland until his death but had been a volunteer worker at Shields Newcastle Road ground. My dads a Sunderland fan but has also always followed Gateshead as he’s from there. What’s the big deal?

All crowds were low in the 80's compared to now, man u were getting crowds in the 20 and 30 thousands for example. Not sure what that's got to do with football today?Ignore them mate. I don't think they've stopped going because they don't care any more, but if you have a family it's expensive to go.
Tickets, transport, grub it all adds up. If there in shields they might be within walking distance of the ground.
