South Shields fans

It's absolutely crackers mate. I wouldn't dream of ditching Sunderland to support another team. I'll go and watch Hebburn as I live down the road, but would I ever choose them or any one else over Sunderland?

Not a chance.
Same hear, im from shields but live in boldon, watched shields before and will watch a game at the shack if sunderland are not on, I have gone through the love and hate with SAFC but never once have I thought I need to support another club, it just baffles my mind as I would never get he same emotions if I changed to man city our south shields

This..... Fair enough stop going to watch the lads if you want, but former fans claiming they are now Shields fans through and through is nonsense. Shields couldn't get over a 100 in a few years back.
Great they are doing well and good luck to them but you can't change your Team.

That's a bit of a shite comparison to make tbf. 40,000 went to Wembley when we averaged 30,000.

Clearly the majority were fans who go regularly to watch the lads.

As for shields when at Wembley the majority of those that went dont go week in week out. Theres a clear difference. Not that theres anything wrong with that. People free to do as they choose.
We didn't sell out our allocation at the last Wembley visit. There were lots of empty seats. The numbers of fans living in the southern half of the country were significant in both games. As for Shields, It's a non-league club who attracted a lot of SAFC/NUFC local Shields people for a big game. It was more than the two teams in the Conference, several tiers above produced in total between them.

I'm not sure I follow the relevance of us not selling out for our second Wembley trip.

Of course there were exiles at the Wembley games. But the vast majority 90% plus came from the north east, so not sure I follow your point again.

The point being made (a fairly insignificant one tbf) was that for Sunderland at Wembley the majority of the crowd was made up of match going fans. For shields it wasnt.

I'd assume most folk who support Shields support (or have a soft spot for) Safc or nufc too.

Nowt wrong with it.
Lots of Fc United fans will support man u.
When I lived in York, lots of York fans supported Leeds.

I work in York and I have never encountered this tbf! Most york fans I know cant stand Leeds due to wo many jumping on the Leeds bandwagon in the city when they start picking up.

Thought the Shields fans were spot on, and their piss taking about Wembley was just normal crack. Never heard any singing about Shearer and I was in their singing stand behind the goal.
I’m a Sunderland supporter of 40 years and from South Tyneside, I’d say 75% of fans their last night, were ex-safc.

We were stood in the corner opposite side from the Marquee, it sounded like they were singing "fat geordie bastard, get out of our club"

Thought it was a bit early as Bruce not appointed yet so likely they were shouting at the idiots.

Shortly after, the 3 trouble makers, one of which was off his tits, tried to get into our stand, then the stewards kicked them out.

Just a bunch of newcastle fans who have become “disillusioned” with modern football and have tried to glory hunt and think it’s cool to support them. Evident last night of all the talk around Rafa, Bruce, the fake sheik, singing Shearer songs and the hate for the Sunderland players.

Change my mind.

let's face it if shields ever played wrexham in the later stages of the fa cup it would not be at st james's

ironic a blyth mag coming on here from a club so intrinsically linked with the dark side

2017 - 14,000 go to Wembley.

2013 - double digit fan numbers.

Not glory hunters. Nope. No sir.

Milk Cup Final 1985, over 50,000 Sunderland fans attended but 2 months later for the final home game there were only 9,398 at Roker Park.

I'm a Sunderland fan btw, but I hate this Shields bashing on here. They are no threat to Sunderland and should be applauded for their efforts
