South Shields fans

I was stood next to some blokes who used to be Sunderland fans, one of them told me he was going to Roker Park from 1953 then started following Shields about 5 years ago because he was sick of getting his weekend ruined and all of the money/players taking the piss out of the club.

Hopefully they don't bother coming back to Sunderland when they get bored again. Don't need people like that at the club

I heard the "Get out of our club" bit but not the rest, but that was when the scuffle was going on.

I personally don't think they were fans of either club.
Just what it sounded like to me. I’m not saying there weren’t disillusioned supporters from both clubs there, but it did back up the OPs comments.
There was also a couple of lads standing behind me discussing Bruce as the next Newcastle manager without giggling, so make of that what you will!

Just a bunch of newcastle fans who have become “disillusioned” with modern football and have tried to glory hunt and think it’s cool to support them. Evident last night of all the talk around Rafa, Bruce, the fake sheik, singing Shearer songs and the hate for the Sunderland players.

Change my mind.

I was surprised with some of the cringeworthy mag type shite a minority came out with.

I used to take my lad to watch them (as a introduction to football) before taking him to the SoL for the 1st time.

That was the season they returned to Filtrona after having to play at Peterlee, it appears what relitve success they have had has attracted a few bandwagon jumpers and bell ends.

Um... did you have a stroke at the end of this post mate? Can you mash the keyboard so we know to send help?

Nonsense
Really don’t understand this lack of appreciation for non league football
South Shields fans are Shields fans because they’re from South Shields or follow the club
Clearly it has driven more fans because of success on the pitch but comments like this are just silly

Spot on.

There’s plenty of Sunderland (id argue the majority) who go to Shields too.

Genuinely how many were Shields pulling in on Saturday afternoon 7 or 8 years back?

How many were we pulling in during 93/94 compared to 97/98?

The chant was definitely first as I heard it and about 1m later the 2 cops who were on duty there walked past us towards the group who were chanting.
You might be right about the chant but if definitely sounded like the Ashley chant to me.

“Get out of our club” directed at the 3 wankers who tried to cause trouble. Started by lads in that part of the shed who still go to Sunderland as well as Shields.

I don't watch half as much football as I used to and its not down to the price, its down to the panzys playing the game, I will always watch sunderland, but after that I am happier watching a non league game our sunday league football, I don't really care about the quality I just want to watch a football match and not a load of supreme athlete's fall over and dive any time someone is near them

Same here got to watch Shields with the grandkids. Sick of having my eyeballs pulled out to watch over paid shite week in week out.

There was a chant in the second half from their ‘Uber ‘ fans who were behind the goal in the shed of fat cockney bastard get out of our club.
It seems to validate the OPs comments a bit.
Strange chant, I didn't think that Ponteland's Dad was particularly fat, and he's not a cockney either.

I didn't go last night but have gone to quite a few Shields games the last few years and always enjoyed it.There's a few lads i know that go who are also season card holders at the SOL.
I also know a couple of mags that go but they don't attend any of their games.

Shields is 50 / 50 so has a share of disillusioned Mag and SAFC fans as well as locals, trying to deny anything else is just f***ing stupid.

The anti Newcastle point scoring on here, using any cause possible is becoming incredibly tedious and boring tbf.

Both sets of fans have their share of idiots, get over it we are just like any other football fans and the "holier than thou" thing is bollocks.

Don't know why people get their knickers in such a twist about South Shields i really don't.
Their fans took over my little town of Coleshill when they played in the semi final of the Vase. Whether they were sand dancers, mags or mackems they were impeccably behaved and very complimentary of Coleshill as a team and as a town. There was not one bit of trouble and the fans mixed together no bother, they were a joy to have tbh.
Mind Newcastle Benfield brought 2 coach loads the season after and were nothing but trouble resulting in the police having to be called.

I'm sorry but it's not that expensive to take kids to watch Sunderland.
