8 Days to the Moon and back

China lands on the moon

China declares its Moon landing a success as it releases photos of the far side of the Moon

I think in the context of the universe being billions of years old, and considering there's been no other life form able to reach earth, and the we haven't done more than put a few folk on the moon...it's more likely we will be extinct before we meet any alien life.
That would be a shame. The universe is a big place though and if you are over the other side of it we won’t be meeting for a long long time

@RichD and @ProfessionalMackem, will no doubt agree with the both of us, that its going to be interesting when we do meet them, i believe that day will be here before this century is out.
Our sun is just one star out of an estimated 100 to 400 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy, and this galaxy is one out of approximately 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe.

Is there life out there in the universe? Probably

That confirms what those who believe, already suspect

Really looking forward to this. Just going to and watch it on iPlayer now.

I mentioned on another thread the podcast “13 minutes to the moon” is outstanding.
I’m just caught up with that. This is what gets me about the fake conspiracy. There were so many people involved, who would have all had to play their parts, and who’ve all managed to keep up the pretence for 50 years, that is would have been easier to go to the moon than to keep it secret.
Plus, there were so many things that didn’t go according to plan. Wouldn’t they have made a better job of a fake landing?

They couldn't keep emails between an Ambassador and his superiors suppressed, when some of the most private communications were between a very close circle. There's no prospect that someone who was close to the centre of this wouldn't have broken rank by now with anything credible.

The biggest flaw in the whole conspiracy bullshit is the Russians. The Cold War at that point had nearly incinerated the World at least twice. The Soviet Space Program was a huge source of pride and propaganda, if the Americans had somehow faked it and the Russians could prove it they would have broken their necks to call it out. It would have been possibly the biggest propaganda coup in history, how could anyone trust the Americans after that? They'd still be dining out on it now. They didn't.

I watched a video a few years ago where an expert in modern special effects proved that they couldn't have faked it, the live feed etc. was impossible with 60s equipment. It was actually easier to send the fuckers there.

Indeed. There are so many reasons for it to have been properly exposed and not of has come up and stood any test of scrutiny.

What a crock of shit. So they got there with less technology then an iPhone has yet cannot even figure out how to get back now.
They know how to get back. The issue was the cost and the fact that absolutely nothing is there for a person to do.

Feel sorry for the fella stuck watching his two mates mooch about on the moon. Obviously played an essential role mind.
Lazy....

Same reason I don't understand flat earthers.

I mean I know the world isn't flat because I can't see mount Everest out my window and basic calculations prove its not.

But even if you can't be arsed with that and disregard all maths and science you're telling me that every single person who's ever flown a plane is on it aswell?

One of my favourite photos, a picture that contains everyone who had ever lived up until that point, except Michael Collins.
:lol::lol:

All part of the plan Dave. In the same way the second plane almost missed the twin tower and the missile that hit the pentagon had to go full circle as it originally failed to spot on the building.

If we went to the moon 50 years ago there would be people on there now in inflatable greenhouses and shit let's be honest
They were going to mate but kath didn’t want her view spoiling.
Then carillon went bust!!!
f***ing nightmare.

I normally find that people who believe in this kind of conspiracy shit are bright people trying to be intelligent people. They also have theories about more than one thing which in itself is suspicious.
If you try and talk about real life known conspiracies they don’t have a clue which is also suspicious.
A lot of them also believe in aliens which contradicts their moon lading conspiracies.

If NASA announced tomorrow the the moon landing was in fact faked, and provided exact intricate detail as to how it as done, the same conspiracy theorists would immediately say that we had in fact went

They aren't interested in the truth, just in looking like they knew more than you

In a nutshell mate.

My brother in law is into this shirt. He went to a big expo at Nissan a few year ago. £200 on books and dvds. Now that’s a conspiracy!!!

50 years is nowt in the grand scheme of things - why should we set up shop there, if in an extra 25-50 years we can see so much more potential in Mars
It took 64 years between the Wright Brothers flying a hundred yards in 1905 to flying 200,000 miles landing on another celestial body and returning safely.
From the trajectory we were on, it’s been a disappointing 50 years.
I still remember how it was meant to be 29 years ago.

Space 1999, set of lying dogs....

After NASA beat the Soviets to the Moon, and went back a few times, they realised it cost too much and just wasn't sustainable. The Apollo programmes were mothballed and the money went on other things. There are also arguments that it was a great distraction from Vietnam and once the Americans began to withdraw, the Apollo programmes didn't serve as propaganda anymore.

We have to remember how much it cost to put two blokes on the moon for less than a day. In the meantime humans have put multiple space stations into orbit, created a reusable space plane, invented countless items we all use today which came from space programmes and so forth.

I'd love to see humans back on the Moon or even on Mars, if NASA manage to follow their proposed plans it won't be that long until it happens.
