Parkrun Thread

I’m doing London on Sunday but took part in Blyth last weekend.

It’s a very fastcourse. I ran just over 19 minutes which is easily my PB.

Hartlepool Parkrun this morning, went off with the 24 minute pacer and felt reasonably comfortable until I hit the turn, turned into 40mph headwind with rain and hailstones for good measure. Finished in 25:05. Last run in anger before the Sunderland 10k next week.

Brutal. I set off with the 22min pacer but the wheels came off that as soon as I went round the turnpoint & ended up being overtaken by the 24min pacer.

The 24 minute pacer ran spot on even pace but the turn killed me. The other two that were with me then completely fell to bits but it was a really long slog back.

Need to do some more hill work. I'm signed up for the Durham 5K at the end of the month, had a trot round the route this morning and bloody hell, that climb up Providence Row after 4k was painful.

Can anyone recommend a parkrun in the region (live in Durham) with a few decent hills that I can try in the next couple of weeks? Was thinking about Gibside but happy to hear about alternatives.

I think the sedgefield one is in Hardwick Park, never done that one but might have a look Saturday with the Durham one being off.

Did Sedgefield about a month ago. Nice course, two laps around the park, one climb towards the end of each lap. Ran into a guy who taught me in primary school - and the bugger recognized me, 30-odd years later. Some memory, that! He wasn't that far behind me round the course either, embarrassingly enough.

If you go, remember to get a spare print out of your barcode to pop in your car - free parking until 11 if you're there for the run.
