Fracking is the answer to the power shortfall mate.I have had a ponder. First thing in the morning the U.K. government should implement the following:
Office workers to be allowed to work from home, all meetings to be held via Skype only on Wednesdays.
All newbuild houses should have solar panels, communal wind turbine, hods of insulation, etc. Ground source thermal exchange thingies and leccy heaters instead of gas.
The elephant in the room is power generation. Can we do it all without nuclear? If we switch to non carbon power then we need to generate enough electricity to charge our Sinclair C5s.
Same here.As long as we're still unbeaten against the mags I'd take that nee bother
True. Doesn't stop them being wrong.I'm certainly no climate change denier. The climate changes regularly over time.
That's not what I'm going against.
Also I'm not telling you or anyone else to believe anything or not to believe.
Every person is entitled to think and believe what they wish.
Planet will be ok, it's the large mammals that will be fucked.Hopefully some mega virus is released soon that wipes out mankind before the planet is beyond saving!
There has always been beer. It has been suggested that making beer led to the change from hunter gatherer to settled farming societies. Those neolithic hangovers must have been brutal. Will there be beer?
Cockroaches, plankton, rats, ants, spiders etc. have survived worse than global warming.Planet will be ok, it's the large mammals that will be fucked.
They are not banned from pubs. You can still get them. but they will have to be asked for by the customer and not available just to take out of a dispencer off the bar/service area. We'll be fine now that plastic straws are banned from pubs
Less plastic in the ocean but now we are chopping down trees to make straws.
If we carry on as we are, at what point are we fucked? How many years...
I’m not a denier (that word doesn’t look right, probably got it wrong!) and do think we’re contributing to global warming and could do an awful lot to slow it down but I do also believe there are contributing factors outside human control.
Think we are tbh. The likes of China and the US will drive it home to the point of no reversal.
Look what’s happening in the Amazon Rainforest, it’s hardy making a murmur, frightening.
Therein lies the problem. Overeducated fools with a sneering contempt for anyone that disagrees. Overpopulation is the problem mate, not Elsie from Pallion putting her cans in the wrong coloured bin.Depends really.
If you’re a selfish arsehole, a gibbering idiot or have a hatred of experts then no, we’re fine.
If you have more brain capacity than an amoeba then yes, we’re probably a little fucked unless govts take drastic measures.
I'd consider myself fairly passionate about reversing the effects of global warming etc, getting involved with recycling, owning a hybrid car, that sort of thing, and im impressed that the collective consciousness in Europe and the UK is mobilising to such a degree on the matter.
However, is the whole situation fucked anyway as the third world catches up and superpowers like America continue to fuck off the idea completely?
Paints a bleak picture
But warming, increasingly acidic seas (more dissolved CO2) are inhibiting their growth cycles.I learned a horrific fact the other day that an area of rainforest equivalent to a football pitch is being lost every minute (or was it every second?).
However I also learned that the oceanic phytoplankton absorb way more CO2 than the rainforests do.
