Why would he leave Coventry and first team football to sit on the bench up here? Surely he'd have better opportunities at other clubs?
Doubt it - he won't get the wages we offer. He didn't choose to leave Coventry , they didn't offer him another contract. You seem to be overplaying his options and standing in the game. A keeper released by Coventry would seem exactly number two fodder.

Not the first time mind. When talking about Lyle Taylor Donald put an issue around money down to a hotel bill, while Taylor came out and said it was actually over a goal bonus.

Lyle Taylor sends strong Twitter message to Stewart Donald over failed Sunderland move

Maybe the hotel bill thing was true and the goal bonus was just left out of Donald's side of the story, but it's these little things that make you think twice about how some of the things he says is worded.

Three sides to every story, got to take everything with a pinch of salt really.

It would be a shite signing on the grounds that he is shite. He was shite last season, and his own team's supporters are clear that he is shite.

We need a No. 2 keeper but I'd rather bring in a younger lad on the way up than a 26 year old who has proven to be shite at this level.

If the plan is for him to be No. 1 keeper, we have no chance of promotion - last season compared to the season before showed how important a solid keeper is.

There are always plenty of solid keepers who can do a job at this level knocking around - think back to signing someone like Darren Ward on a free. If we are signing Lee Burge it can only be because his wage demands are so low.

Coventry are in the same league as us. From what I know he was let go because Coventry are in financial trouble. He has been their no. 1 for 3 years. He could go to lesser team and get first team football rather than sit on the bench up here. That's how I would view it if I was in his shoes.

Must admit he seems like a Jason Steele type goalie.

According to their fans he was let go because he was hopeless.

It was the roker report lads that said about the hotel bill. SD used the hotel room as an example due to that the excuss given by the interviewer. SD didn't give an actual reason but insinuated geography played a small part.

The way I see it, deals should be conditionally in place i.e. when Catts leaves, we immediately sign his replacement.

Instead we tend to get rid of our players then replace them last minute meaning negotiations are made more difficult.

We've got loads of CM players on the books. Why would we sign one when we had to many?

If anything we need to look for a way to create more space to add in the addition of a player that would make the difference through the middle. Personally, I would be looking to shift on Honeyman and sign a much better all rounded option than him.

This is the thing I can't reconcile. I like Speedy and don't think he's a bullshitter but equally Donald has said a hell of a lot in the public domain and I can't think of any(/many?) instances he's been caught outright lying. He occasionally hasn't told us absolutely everything but I wouldn't expect him to and it's a hell of a leap from that to explicitly lying to us, telling us black is white and actively deceiving us which is what he is doing if what Speedy is saying is true.

Something has to give.

“chairman says one thing and does the complete opposite” not my words but the words from somebody who would absolutely know!

What @Speedy1976 is saying ties up 110% with what I’ve been told regards SD!!!

Have you been watching us mate? Our midfield was weak. Of course we need midfielders. The problem was Ross signed 3 midfielders that were all very similar to what we already had.

We signed Cattermole's replacement last season when McGeouch came in. Only Cattermole didn't leave.

So you're happy with Power, McGeouch and Leadbitter?
