Cattermole gone

He is, has his best days ahead of him, unlike Oviedo who is paid Premiership wages for being bang average.
He, for a player at 31, will have had one eye on where his next contract is going to come from (Sheff Wed by the looks) and how long it is going to be for, 3 years I'd take a guess on........Pleased he has moved on but that should of happened before his agent managed to negotiate the last deal he signed when imo the club fucked up.

The only really significant one was Grigg and lets be honest I suspect that we spent big on him because the fans would have lynched SD if we had not and we had gone into the 2nd half of the season without a proven replacement for Maja. There is a lot of talent out there that will not command fees or that is on loan from big clubs. My personal opinion is I wouldnt be spending money buying players till we get into the Championship.

Watmore i would have thought.

We ended up spending big on Grigg because we fucked about all window with derisory offers.

Donald has said Wigan initially wanted 1 million (we offered 250k) and they increased it to 1.5. We then sold Maja and left ourselves with no fit striker (Wyke was playing but was miles off the pace). It was then reported Wigan wanted 3 million as they knew we were desperate so initially we sacked that off and in deadline day were linked with Ladapo, Marquis, Eaves and Moore. Donald has stated one of those fucked us about so confirms we looked at other cheaper options. They of course at the time were all their clubs top scorers and it was deadline day so presumably woukd have also come at a premium so we signed Sterling (in case we ended up with nowt) and went back in for Grigg (managers top target) at 3 million plus add ons.

I don't think any of it had owt to do with the fans. He was top target all window and even then we explored other options.

As it happens, I still think with a full pre season and the issue of supply being addressed he will still score the goals we need to get us up. He has banged in 20+ a season in this division for years, no reason to think that should change at SAFC.

how many did he score the season before he joined us? im pretty sure it was poor?

Well that's wrong. Watmore played under Allardyce. Love was signed by Moyes

Well aye that's my point. The money wasn't spent well. I've no faith the extra money from Catts wage will be spent well either.
Can we even spend the Catts wage? I thought that was ring fenced for FFP purposes, which I mean it doesn't count towards FFP rules, would presume any new players wages would go towards that? Only 60% of turnover can be spent on wages, however Catts wages didn't count towards that

I hope he does. If we play the right way his previous history shows he can score. Question is whether we can play the right way and whether his heads in it.

I'd still be worried going into the season with only him and Wyke (if that actually was to happen) .

That's separate to the original point about hin fee, mind.

I'm not sure tbh. Imo he needs replacing

The 2017/18 season he bagged 18 only one of which was a penna.....He started 29 games but was sub on another 14 games.
The 2016/17 season before that he started 35 games with another 5 as sub and bagged 25 goals

Season before that he was at Milton Keynes and bagged 20 in 31 starts with another 13 as sub....

In short he has banged in goals every year, has a great goals to games ration and given his age and experience he should be hitting his prime now.

Right supply and this lad will score 25+ next season.

Only for last season, It now counts. As does Oviedo's, McGeady's, and anyone else who was with us then.

So whats the point of it? Save wages to be spent on the type of players we signed last yeaR?

Hows that a good thing?

It’s beyond ridiculous (not his fault) that a player of his limited ability was on the money he was in league one.

I am amazed anyone could think anything else

If all his wages were spent on other players it would be a no brainer problem is it probably wouldn’t

Of course he will, its the supply thats the worry not Grigg

I’d say that the ones that are going on as though they know the finances of the club are those that are saying things like ‘there’s a lot of spin’. How could you possibly know that unless you know, without doubt, what the reality is.

 the irony of this post, all you do is talk about how well they are doing with the finances, anyone would think you were an accountant

 What like the people we signed last year who are nowhere near as good as him?

Aye that worked well
