Dunno if SEB as cant be arsed to read the threads but the mag fans groups have cancelled all flags displays until the club is sold.......Seems they are starting to get it, only thing that will get Ashley gone is what got Short gone, 20,000 fans no longer turning up, its amazing how it focuses the mind.

That had nothing to do with Short going. What got Short out was SBC wanting their money back ASAP, and him cutting his losses as a result.

Those losses were wracking up at a much higher rate once people stopped pouring their money into the club.......Sorry like but the way to get rid of an owner is to cut off the money supply, simple as that. It will work every single time as the double whammy of an empty stadium is it really highlights just how bad your management of the club is.

im unsure wether i want him to flop or succeed in his next job, which one will piss them off most?

definitely flop. just to prolong this whole bizarre episode. if he does well, it will almost justify their behaviour. if he fails, they will be confused, and falling over themselves to excuse Benitez of any wrongdoing at his new club and blame the new clubs owner/fans/players etc.. it will be a joy to watch

That cost no more than £2-3m in turnover. The losses were racking up due to an out of control wage bill, and disastrous transfer dealings. For PL clubs, gate receipts are insignificant.

Bang-on. Not only only have you got the usual dafties but an MP, local businesses and even the council are getting involved in this highly embarrassing teenage girl behaviour.
A Manager who didn't do anything out of the ordinary has left, nothing else. They seriously need to take a step back and realise what they're going on like.

It's too late mate.

A local journalist went on the record on a radio station and when interviewed said the club had offered £50million plus any sales for transfers and a pay increase on the £6 million per year salary. They were still in discussions with Benitez's agents but MA saw a "less than flattering email" from them that showed he wasn't going to sign a the new contract.

Yet you go online and it's all "Rafa sacked", "Rafa hounded out" bullshit.

Add to that all of the other bullshit since then and you realise they're batshit crazy with unrequited love.

Statements like "he was offered a contract and refused to sign it" is met with the sobbing and wailing of children who refuse to hear the truth.

Frankly it's equal measures "bizarre" and "hilarious".

Gates receipts stopped being a major factor for clubs in the Premier League a long time ago.

I'll admit I don't understand at all, they are going on like he's died when all I can make of it is the manager has left as soon as it didn't cost him to do so.
To all the bleating fannies on tinterweb, get over yourselves ffs, grown ups going on like total bairns.

Seems as though a manager who spent a few seasons at the club is more important than the club that's existed for well over 100 years

I see you found the handsome one...

That only works down the leagues where TV money doesn't make up such a hugely significant part of income and you're more reliant on gate money.

Serious question Sima. Are you not at all cringing, with the way people are going on?

Some people are going over the top but there’s a legitimate reason to be frustrated/upset.

Regardless of what the majority of this place thinks, Rafa Benitez is a very good manager and is probably the best we could have hoped for (I expect the standard Pardew 5th responses on the back of this from the usual suspects, ignoring the different circumstances - can’t be arsed) under the circumstances. He’s a genuinely decent bloke who is the antithesis of the current administration. He’s stopped all of the injury crises we used to have and has got us defending better than I’ve ever seen.

Quite a bit of it though is the ‘double-underlining‘ of how Ashley wants to run the club as an ambitionless husk. Content with only finishing 17th every season with absolutely no will to progress beyond that point. Goes against what most consider as ‘sport’.

The more I think about the big screen idea the more bizarre it gets. Even if it could be done.

Cost of hiring/running a screen + cost of security is going to be ridiculously expensive. No idea who would foot the bill so it would require an entry charge probably.

Council would likely impose alcohol restrictions. So who is going to pay to sit in a field, when the match is on sky and availiable in pubs and homes anyway.

Even if a significant amount did boycoutt the match, are they seriously thinking enough people would watch the match on the town moor to justify it?

First sign of rain and its doomed.

I really hope they go for it
