As the short lived, and very regrettable, Tyne & Wear Council is gone and Sunderland was in County Durham since medieval times it may not be in the modern "Unitary Authority" of County Durham right now as it is a Unitary Authority of it's own, but to say County Durham is "irrelevant" to Sunderland is utterly ridiculous.

The pictures on that article are photoshopped as the one @cheeses of nazereth put up is genuine, as are all his other images! Here is another one I found in google search and it's from NUFCblog.
