Truth About Global Warming

Of course we can. By developing the technologies to resolve the issues it can then be transferred to developing countries at ever reducing costs -see solar as an example.
Solar has been a farce so far. Seems hydro is the best renewable, but then not everyone can generate it. Wind seems better than solar too

Love it how people mock the opinion of somebody who is much educated than themselves because they don't agree with it mind.

That's why the world if fucked, IMO.

I watched a programme in the states a while back about this millionaire bloke and his wife who went to Antarctic (can't remember exactly where but just saying Antarctic) and they done an experiment where they drilled a whole through the Ice and took sample's and they found evidence of trees been growing in the Antarctic.
Quick cut'n'paste from wiki:

Gondwana breakup (160–23 Ma)
The cooling of Antarctica occurred stepwise, as the continental spread changed the oceanic currents from longitudinal equator-to-pole temperature-equalising currents to latitudinal currents that preserved and accentuated latitude temperature differences.

Africa separated from Antarctica in the Jurassic, around 160 Ma, followed by the Indian subcontinent in the early Cretaceous (about 125 Ma). By the end of the Cretaceous, about 66 Ma, Antarctica (then connected to Australia) still had a subtropical climate and flora, complete with a marsupial fauna.[64] In the Eocene epoch, about 40 Ma Australia-New Guinea separated from Antarctica, so that latitudinal currents could isolate Antarctica from Australia, and the first ice began to appear. During the Eocene–Oligocene extinction event about 34 million years ago, CO2 levels have been found to be about 760 ppm[65] and had been decreasing from earlier levels in the thousands of ppm.

Around 23 Ma, the Drake Passage opened between Antarctica and South America, resulting in the Antarctic Circumpolar Current that completely isolated the continent. Models of the changes suggest that declining CO2 levels became more important.[66] The ice began to spread, replacing the forests that then covered the continent.

Neogene Period (23–0.05 Ma)
Since about 15 Ma, the continent has been mostly covered with ice.[67]

The painful decision is to roll back on the tech, live simpler lives and use less resources. But everyone wants a high standard of living, flying cars, foreign holidays etc. funny thing is, the UK has many wonderful holiday spots, but people don’t appreciate what we have

Air travel accounts for 5% of greenhouse emissions - it's not a massive offender in the grand scheme.

Nope.

If people grouped together we'd get change.

Sniping on the internet, laughing at alternative points of view, believing your opinion is morally superior than that of somebody else is the reason why we achieve nothing.

Sad but true.

We want lots of stuff - so we get the Chinese to make it cheap. The Chinese also want lots of stuff - so they have to produce it somehow.

I'm happy to admit to a degree of hypocrisy - I really don't want to give up my skiing holidays. But I do try to recycle stuff, drive more efficiently, reduce home energy consumption, repair stuff rather than replace it.

However, there is evidence that releasing pollutants that high in the atmosphere multiplies the damage.

There is also evidence that our GHG figures are skewed, only looking at cycles from the 1970s to 2009.

Look at the cycles from the 1920s to right now and you'll see weather hasn't changed that much and the temperature has risen only moderately.

A good sentence from that video is 'scientists define what the results of global warming will be - not the science itself', and that, is scary.

I can guarantee that this man will never be interviewed by a major UK news broadcaster because he goes against the grain.
Future generations will look back at this period in disgust. We know there has been cataclysmic damage done to the planet by us already. We know we need to change massively to prevent it from being even worse. What do we do? Practically nothing. Climate change should be the most important focus of every single government in the world and we should be in a state of emergency trying to lessen the damage to the planet. But instead we discuss non issues like Brexit or Trumps wall. Even worse we fund nuclear weapons and spend billions on something that we could never use. In 30 years time eating meat, flying and using petrol cars will be seen as crazy hedonism from a previous unfathomable era. We will be seen as the people who continued to party as the house literally burned down around us. As Bill Hicks said, humanity is a virus with shoes.
