Weight Loss 2019

My eyes have always been bigger than my belt but now I'm inching ever closer towards 28 it seems like that's no longer true! Naturally quite a big lad (6'2" and broad-framed) but I've never had weight problems, really, never been what you'd consider overweight until lately. I gained before Christmas then lost weight (went from 100kg to 86kg) a few months ago and it seems like the only area that it won't go away from is my bloody beer gut.

Any tips for how I might shift this particular area of fat? I hear spot loss of weight isn't possible but surely I can't become super skinny on the arms and legs and still a porker around the waist?

What exercise are you currently doing mate?

Bought some ThermoPro pre workout tablets from the Protein Works. Anyone used them before? They reckon it promotes fat loss but as far as I can tell by packaging its just something that gives you a bit of a boost and makes you sweat more?

Not sure if that was aimed at my previous post about ThermoPure but they do make me sweat a shit load more than I normally do.

Side note. 4lbs down since last Sunday. Celebrated by climbing Great Gable earlier today. 899m 10th highest peak in England. Did Green Gable 801m on the way up. Weather was poor but could still see Scafell Pike, Buttermere, Blencathra, Skiddaw and even the Solway Firth from the top.

Hoping to hit the gym again on Wednesday after a couple of days recovery. Managing to run for 4 miles fairly comfortably now on the treadmill after lowering my speed as opposed to gunning it and flagging after a mile. Gonna up it to 5 miles by the end of the week.

20 stone 5lbs now.

Sweating doesn't mean you're losing weight. Burning fat is losing weight, so unless it states anything about burning fat, sweating more doesn't really mean anything.

Even products that promote "burning fat" are always suspect to me.

It's essentially a green tea, caffeine and guarana extract pill. Like an energy drink without the sugars and such. I feel as if I can run longer with them but that may be a placebo effect. They were only £8 so worth a try anyway. It does actually say it promotes burning fat but as you say, hardly anything beats good old fashioned exercise and clean eating.

Mainly tried them to see if they give me an endurance boost whilst I'm still losing the weight while at a heavy weight. Gonna give it a month or so and see how they are long term. Bad news is I'm wide awake now even though I've been up since 6:20am.

Yeah, of course you're wide awake. You're basically drinking an energy drink. There's a lot of conflicting info about caffeine and guarana mix and what they can do to your body. But one of my brother-in-law is a pharmacist and he has told me to stay clear of that combination.

Anyway, just be careful with it.

The mad thing is, I used to pouch a load of energy drinks back in the day and they rarely if ever had that kind of effect on me

I've never really been into energy drinks as like you they don't really do anything for me and I'm not a fan of the taste. Sounds like this stuff that you're using is strong as fuck. Just be careful with it, pal.

It was mainly my school and college days tbh. Yeah they seem to be strong. Gonna run without them tomorrow and if the difference is negligible I'll probably only use them if I'm lagging

Tablets don't burn fat, if they did they would say that. They say they "promote" burning fat because it's the most ambiguous yet utterly meaningless thing they can legally say on the label.

They may raise your heart rate and give you a temporary sense of energy that negates your desire to eat, or gets you through a short period of exercise, but both of these should & could be achieved by a proper diet and programme.

You're looking for a quick fix to what you know the real solution is, which is consistent exercise and for weight loss a calorie deficit.

I'm just finding this thread now so I'm 6months behind! I started on Monday at 239lb, I've joined a boot camp at the gym the wife goes to. Been twice now and my god I'm in agony! I was stiff from Mondays session but quickly eased off for yesterday. I really enjoyed the class so gave myself a good beasting but I'm really suffering now. Does anyone have any tips on muscle recovery?

Apart from the gym, I'm eating healthy, been following a diet and sticking to it pretty well. I need to get away from drinking so much tea and coffee and on to more water though.
