Drinking

Barely touched alcohol this year bar a couple of weeks where I've been off work, and although I've no doubt it's much healthier, and I'm a lot slimmer, it isn't half boring like. Much more fun when you are regularly slurping IMO.

In the house in the week during the evening. Becoming an every day occurrence with a bottle of red. Never used to do it when I lived with my parents. Been in my flat just over a year and for the past 6 months love a drop on a school night. Not to get pissed or owt, just relaxing.

Starting to think I may need to slow down, but I’m only 28 so maybe I shouldn’t worry too much.

Anyone else indulge a little too much?

When I first moved in to this place I got into that habit once or twice a week. It went on for a couple of months until nights when my lass would be out or working late she would come in and I’d be mortal. Knocked it on the head.

Then when I got the new job working from home I went through another period of a couple of months doing the same thing. Instead now I’ll be in the pub from 6pm one night a which means I drink much. Still not ideal like but i’m blaming the good weather and lack of job satisfaction.

I was finding the number of nights a week I was drinking at home was slowly creeping up so it was virtually every night. Cos of that I'm trying to not drink at all for June. Its already the longest I've gone without a drink for thirty years. Largely pretty easy apart from when the sun was out and I wanted to drink in the back garden. A lot of home boozing is just habit I think

I usually have a bottle of red on a Wednesday night, it sort of breaks the week up, I did it when I was working and the tradition carried over into retirement, mind, If I fancy a drink, no matter what time or day, I'll have one.

One night a week*
I drink much less*

I'm clearly drunk now if my typing's anything to go by.

Having one drink with dinner or while cooking is fine. Drinking in the house, alone, to get pissed, is just a sign of a drink and other problems.
I don’t try to get pissed though, that’s not the aim. I just find it helps me to unwind. I just don’t want to become dependant on needing the drink to unwind if you get what I’m saying.

Can you get pissed drinking one bottle of wine?

I didn't drink on Thursday or Friday last week then only had one pint on Saturday. As a reward I went to the pub for 10 hours on Sunday.

Try buying something nicer than pop or squash as an alternative. You might find just having a "nice drink option" is enough to veer away from "the drink".

I like a couple of brewdogs non alcoholic beers (the Raspberry sour one especially). Koppabergs NA ciders are canny too. There's some nice looking codials these days anarl.
