The failure of Ross

You forgot Will "Guaranteed goals at this level" Grigg who he has no idea how to use properly.

No disputing the Will Grigg being a complete flop contributed to our failure last season. I’m still not convinced it’s the managers fault though, he just looks a poor player. He wouldn’t be the first dud in the history of the club we have signed.

He shouldn’t be ashamed at all, have you not listened to the owners!!? The club was a shambles until the new owners came in. He took his 1st training session with 8 players, people bang on about the biggest budget, he needed a big budget to build a squad and to cover the wages of remaining high earners. We were also hampered in the transfer market as the wage bill was too high and we had to get shot people like ndong . Judge him after the 2 nd season
Would it be rude to ask how we contrived to get only five points from our last six league games, just asking like.

Is it just me or is there not enough uproar? It is an absolute disgrace he couldn't get us back up at the first attempt imho, he should be embarrassed.

Really, really clinging to the hope that Mark Campbell wants his own man.
Grow a pair of bollocks man NN.

In all honesty, he had a lot to learn last season and I reckon he will benefit from that into this season. I hope so anyway.

I think its very simple really, we need to be first come the start of November, having a great run of wins, heading towards the 100 points total set down by the owners, if we are outside the top 6 he may feel the heat of angry fans, and the owners may just listen. #NoExcuses.

If he doesnt finish top I'd peddle the fucker. Shite last season, complete shite.
I would have peddled him last bank holiday, f***ing shite in every department.

Peddling Ross after one season , given the complete shambles he inherited would just confirm what a basket case our club still is.
Keeping him confirms what a basket case club we are.

Given the resources at his disposal, particularly in January, Ross did ok in his first season - no more, no less.

I think the owners have already put unnecessary pressure on him for next season with the whole 100 points thing.

Come October if we’re not flying high at the top of the table, the knives will be out.

While I totally agree with you about everything, you said, I still cannot understand for the life of me (and there are a few on here who share similar sentiments!) why after the encouraging, Pre Season and start to the season when we were using Jacks apparently preferred, 'Pressing' style and doing it pretty well, why we more and more switched to Route One. This was before we even knew Maja was leaving, so that is not the answer. It is my most serious concern about what happened and I doubt if we will ever find out. All of the players were playing far better as individuals too. Even Baldwin and Flannagan were playing consistently well!
A lot of our new players last season had never played for a team as big as us before. They probably couldn't believe they were at such a prestigious club and at the start of the season they were flying and playing at their individual and collective best. They obviously are not good enough to sustain that level, especially through over 60 games in a long season, and it was inevitable the wheels would come off as we limped to the end.
Let's hope Ross has learned and that recruitment improves this time round.

Interesting that you say that, but surely the board have to set goals for the management to attain within the time frame of a full season, its up to JR to show if he is capable enough to attain those goals.

I was fuming with him a lot last season and none more so than after the play off final and I wouldn’t have been bothered in the slightest if he’d been peddled. I’ve mellowed a bit since though and we aren’t the first ‘big’ club to fail to bounce back from this division at the first attempt in recent times and we won’t be the last. It’s over to him now for next season and he has to deliver because the pressure is on, not just to get more wins but to at least not bore us to death as much in the process.

Without a takeover after Short things could have been a hell of a lot worse for us as a football club so we have to be grateful for that at least. We weren’t a million miles off in the end despite the dour football so if we can keep most of these players together and add a few good players there’s no reason at all next season can’t be that bit better.
