Most dominant strikers and centre backs in league 1

The mind boggles how we let Maja get away.
He could’ve downed tools after the Jan window. Tueartitis as it was known amongst my dads mates.

If he had stayed the full year he would have won EFL young player of the year imo. Would have been worth a lot of money too. James Justin was up for the award this year (Luton full back) and he off for 7.5 mill despite never playing higher than league 1. Crazy.
Depends if he’d carried on as before the Jan window. Remember he’s seen Watmore trials n tribulations from very close quarters.

How much?! Where to?

Irrelevant to us as he'd have been worth a few hundred grand probably. If he'd wanted to stay, even till the end of the season he would have. People keep making it sound like the club forced him out, but they couldn't force him into signing a new contract so that doesn't ring true.

Interesting stuff. Shows how shite we are as a creative force - our real problem. Look how few good chances we create compared to our rivals at the top of the league. From that list I’d look at Clarke Harris from Bristol and we should have a good look at Lameiras the winger from Plymouth. Good conversion rates and decent basic xG for their clubs and positions.

As for defenders, Tafazolli and Nelson on frees would represent good business.

Who is that L. Lindsey fella? Could do with someone with stats like that.
Liam Lindsay, Barnsley centre back. Have only seen him in the games against us but have heard lots of good things about him. He was a regular for them in the Championship and League One anyway so presume he'll either stay or go on to better things.

Most people on here thought it was the right decision

I just don’t get it.

Most people wanted Maja to stay.

Given it was abundantly clear he had no intentions of signing a new deal we were all split on whether it was best to cash in and reinvest the money (plus more) or keep him and see if his form continued.

The club chose the former and got the reinvestment wrong, or seemingly so at the moment. However factually Maja played seven games, scored one goal and then got injured.

Let's just hope future transfers are a helluva lot better than last season .

Unless we play to their strengths it's pretty pointless looking at stats.
Agree.

With the support our 1 isolated striker had last season we could have had Auegro playing for us and he would have struggled.

I noticed the echo were saying that we would be looking at young players on loan from the Premier League and were trying to something going with Liverpool. Personally if we learned anything last season it would be how streetwise you need to be in League one. I'd happily shithouse our way to promotion with a side full 6' 5" lads.
We badly need height, strengh, athletisism and pace inour team for this league. If they can play a bit of footy thats a bonus.

I'd put money on us not having looked at stats at all tbh. That's why we're constantly mugged off in the transfer market. Stats shouldn't be the be all and end all when looking for players mind but it should point us in the right direction. Stats then scout then decide.

Nobody will know now

He should of been here till the end of the season in my view. He keeps scoring for us and goes at the end of the season or he downs tools and looks a prick which doesn't do him any favours at all.

Indeed, cost us promotion and how much revenue ?? I don’t think we tried hard enough with him and his agent to get him to stay until the end of the season even if he got a good bonus to do it.

He scored in his last game didn't he?

He would have got a move at end of season and probably got us promoted

all for 1.5 mill, just don't get it

Pointless keeping unhappy players , unfortunately the agents get in their ears and in their heads and essentially tell them what to do , a lot of players would rather upset their clubs , fans ,and anyone else rather than their agents . The agents now tend to run the show and whilst look to help their player also make quite a bit of money to help themselves but try telling that to the player . Once a player is " unsettled " it can have a ripple effect on the whole squad so as hard as it is cut a deal and move on which is what we did , as for Maja I'm not sure that his agent did a good enough job for him as I think staying another year or two would have seen him make a better and more suitable move - His Loss !
