This. Putting 90% of other pubs to shame with their product.

Yeah you get a few scratters in drinking during the day, big deal.
Do some decent ales at decent prices!

No tracksuits, branded sportswear shorts ban after 7pm started in Jameson's last week, was noticbly quieter last Thursday night, will see how it's going when I pop in tomorrow night.

Spot on mate, it is what it is. Not many places you can get a burger and a pint for less than a tenner, Obviously it’s not the best produce and the chefs probably aren’t qualified but If you enjoy it then what’s the problem.

if you fancy a pint, just have one ( or 2 or more) If the time of day bothers you just don't look at the clock. There's no rules.

I get it if you're having a pre-flight drink, but wanting a drink the moment you get up and being pissed everyday to the point you no longer function as a normal human being is to me a problem.

:lol::lol:

Just mentioned this to the mrs and see remained me of the bloke sitting behind her in piccadilly one who smelt of shit.

This was about 10am. And thankfully I couldn't smell him

Another angle I heard of was alcoholics frequenting the Company Row in Consett actually being paid to drink.

I'm not sure of the background to this mind, whether it was to slowly wean them off or to deter them committing petty crime.

Someone in the know enlighten me?

Let's try again.

I've been in and out of Durham a few times the last two weeks.

Is it just the Waterhouse in Durham that suffers the cheap beer whino effect or do other Wetherspoons suffer it?

I saw someone so drunk at one of Sunderland's Wetherpoons so blind drunk they fell over every five yards. Consett's Company Row has an apparent daytime reputation too.

Down Durham, I witnessed one bloke face-slide along the glass front of the North Road Tesco Express and a different day, a security guard have to ban three drunks from Wetherspoons who were trying to buy / steal bottles of cheap plonk from Tescos.

Note each time I was passing and not a Wetherspoons customer (though I was having a pint -only one pint - at the Sunderland one).

These are during the day too. I'd heard the tales but didn't think it was that bad.

Anyone want to do a bet on how long their livers last?
I think you just answered your own question. You ask if it only happens in Durham, as you've seen it. Although you have witnessed it happening in Sunderland, and have heard of goings on at the one in Consett. Now you decide if it only happens in Durham, cos most of us aren't at your communication level. Although I might be at the weekend, when I'm in the one at Durham.I'm 68 and me liver's tested fine btw
