In that article he says....
In 2013, Newcastle’s recruitment policy centred on buying cheap and mostly average French players, five arrived in the January alone, which took the French-speaking contingent in the dressing room to 13.
That this plan didn’t work came as a surprise to nobody except those recovering from serious brain trauma.

Yet in 2013 he wrote this....

Has anyone pointed this out to him

Same as yesterday, they’re adamant it’s happening but still not proved their funds.

Still think it’ll happen mind.

The first problem with what has happened so far is that Ashley said after the last 2 abortive negotiations that he would terminate any future talks if the media found out about them.
That's because he was sick of people speculatively bidding and using the publicity of the bid to try to drum up the funds. (Staveley / Kenyon).

That's why the papers were talking about them having to prove they have the funds.

Not only have they talked to the press before negotiating, but they even emailed the bloody chronicle confirming they were interested!

They may be interested but they have a bizarre way of going on about it.

This is unravelling even faster than I thought it would. As reported yesterday, no deal in place, no takeover imminent #nufc

#NUFC takeover update. Bin Zayed Group sources say they don’t expect a takeover to be complete before Benitez’s contact expires on June 30. Will be on Mike Ashley (and the impending lure of a possible new owner. If that happens) to persuade him to stay.

I think a lot hinges on proof of funds. But at the moment #NUFC insiders appear skeptical. This hardly suggests an imminent official announcement. But as those who have lived in the UAE will attest, things can move at super- or snail- speed and thus change very quickly

The only thing I can see "unravelling " Is your tounge.

Let's just face it - Nobody has a f***ing clue whether this is real or not...

And anybody who tells you it is or it isn't is talking shite - until the club finally announce one way or another whether a deal has been done.

I'm quietly optimistic (.. but that's just me) .

And if it turns out to be a load of crapola I won't begrudge any of you lot a good laugh.

My God , you could do with one...

Bricking it!

Deffo squeaky bum time for them

On the brightside they can use teatowels they all bought
Not sure that what you are saying is correct. Whether Newcastle come to be under new ownership or not, they will remain a mid table, lower mid table premiership team. The owner might change, but I doubt much else will.

Sunderland are in division 3. Criminal and bizarre. Strangely being accepted by so many.

There's nowt we can do about it division 3 or not there's no point stressing about things in life you can't control
End of the day you still lead your life have a laugh with friends go to work as normal enjoy your holidays etc etc
I think you lot have this impression that we're all suicidal because we're in league 3 and life will come to an end :lol::lol::lol:

Not at all.

You validate my point exactly. Your fellow supporter suggested it is 'squeaky bum' time regarding this supposed takeover. It is not.

As you correctly say, I have no control over it. It won't change my life if it happens or not.

Are the Mags the new Man City yet? havent been following this story as it was bringing me down when they mentioned in the national news

Newcastle have incredibly been put into the race to sign Kylian Mbappe by bookies, and their best price is currently the same as Liverpool and Juventus.

Incredibly, 64% of all bets in the last 24 hours have backed the stupendous switch, with Real Madrid the second most backed with 8% of bets.

to sign the 20-year-old in the transfer window, but you wouldn’t blame Newcastle fans for getting carried away right now. The Tynesiders are gearing up for their 51st season since winning a major trophy; the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969.

The Magpies are on the verge of being taken over by billionaire Sheikh Khaled and the PSG forward would be the biggest signing in the club's history.

That's led to a flurry of bets on Toon-related markets, with the club being cut from 50/1 into .
