We're not. Without mclaughlin we would be outside the top 6 easy

but mclaughlin is our player, so that's pointless.

the way we played the season i agree, but if anyone outside of mcalughlin and o'nien played to their potential we would have walked the league. mcgeady in the matches was fit was a matchwinner. maguire and gooch both one player of the month awards, shame they didn't perform fuck all in the other months. right through that side was players good enough to boss games who looked like dross

Can’t argue with what he has said. We have no divine right to be anywhere other than where we are now. We have to work hard and earn it, we didn’t quite work hard enough.

We dust ourselves down and we go again.

Plenty will be still moaning like fuck, but that’s their prerogative, it's what they enjoy doing. Without something to moan about, they’re stuck!

Wasn't it the pub fans that he called parasites? Not language I'd agree with but he certainly didn't call people at the SOL by that name.

I don't know a sunderland fan who is a parasite. I know a few who have watched a match via a stream in the pub aswell
If that price of a pint or cola doesn't go into Charlie's pocket he labels you
f***ing awful person

Strange things to say, I have thought for a while he would be the one to cause the owners problems by saying something daft.
If he doesn’t think we are a bigger club than Charlton he should go tbh. I can’t think of a single measure whereby they would be classed as bigger. It’s him who needs to get realistic.

No, he does think we are a bigger club than Charlton. Because we are, in his words, ‘the biggest club to ever have played in this division’.

We’re only not the biggest club in the division when the context is some lad saying we shouldn’t be League one as a club of our size. Because obviously that’s different. Clear enough IMO

Charlie scored a few own goals there. Charlton as big as Sunderland?? You have got to be kidding by any criteria. Average support at games, trophies won, history. They are not within an asses roar of Sunderland. Now to fans being quiet. Well there was 2 finals in a few months of each other and one group of fans had travelled down in huge numbers the nite before and yes many over indulged. I saw that myself at the CT trophy final. Many too pissed to get behind team. However the manager, players and owners failed to get Sunderland into the championship. They trailed off very badly towards the end. They have to take the lions share of the blame. The fans have been terrific and Charlie needs to realize the honeymoon period is over for them. They better get more investment in and Ross needs to have us top of the league within 5/6 Games next season or the fans will turn on them all big time.

I think it's bollocks tbh. Aye, some will have gone far too mental at Trafalgar but honestly, it wasn't really a massive thing this time. Most people had gone by about 11/ 12, so (like me) will have had a good 8 hours to sleep it off, plenty time for a breakfast in the morning and then a good few more pints before kick off. It's not like it's some all night session ending at 4am and the match is at 10. Like I say some no doubt overdid it and might have been a bit rough the next day, but I didn't see many on the night who I thought would have any bother the next morning

It's more likely the ones who were up at 3am either to get coaches or to drive down who are the ones too tired. Not the ones with a decent night's kip and few pints the night before.

I think he's targeting those who just sacked the game off for whatever reason, he just executes it incorrectly.

As per usual the fanny pads among our support are up in arms when it's not even those (including myself) who were at the game he's having a pop at mainly - granted he's said those of us who were there were quiet but he's absolutely spot on. We've done the same thing at Wembley twice, drank the smoke dry the night before and then been completely shagged at the match.

Couldn't give a fuck if Pompey and Charlton had 30 miles or 300 miles to travel, its bang on the money.

The support was poor chanting wise, but that is because we could all see what was going to happen after 10 minutes. If I was an opposition manager viewing our season, I would gift us a goal early on as well. The team gave us jack shit to wake us from our hangovers, we should stop invading Trafalgar Square the night before and save it for the night after

Fcuk me was that lesson not learned at Checkatrade.i sang me heart out at Covent Garden.then TS .then Wembley.to be honest as supporters don't know what else we could have done
Out sung at Wembley due to Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square iirc

Yes we deserve to be where we are because we haven’t performed. But that’s not what the interviewer was saying. And that’s not how Methven responded. The interviewer said for a club of our size we need to get out of the division, Methven inexplicably responded by comparing us to Charlton, how many we had there compared to them and how we compared in terms of noise. He also said Charlton have spent a major part of the last 20 or 30 years in the Premier League (which is nonsense by the way). I remember him saying something along the lines of our supporters being a bit ignorant about the lower leagues, well maybe he’s the same of the higher leagues given that his club have barely been there.

We have a better starting point this year than last. If nothing else, a far longer planning period. There are holes in the squad, true, but this time last year it wasn't clear if there was a squad to have holes in.
Spot on GOM, however my main worry is in the quality of our recruitment this summer, look at the January window for example.

The orange skinned 6% salmon pants superman doesn't half talk alot of cacbabble. He's basically just said Sunderland fans aren't good enough!!!
I'll repeat.. A total failure has just insinuated its the fans' fault!

I tell you who's not good enough.. you sir. You made a bet which hasn't come off and now your are blaming the fans in your roundabout nancy pancy sort of way.

You are outed with a tattered and scarred reputation..

this is a f***ing awful excuse imo. i bet those making a racket at TS and having the times of their lives were teh few fuckers making noise at wembo. but it's no difference to the difference between away and home support. get the noisy bunch in a small group and it works better than small pockets of noisy people amongst 35,000 or so.
