I think we’re capable of seeing the issues ourselves but whether we’re capable of sorting them I don’t think we are.

There’s been countless threads criticising attendance and atmosphere already. It’s only been when it’s an outsider (especially one wearing pink trousers and a blue rosette) who’s having a pop that people are reacting.

I’d like to see something done about the atmosphere but I don’t know how you make everyone happy. For me there are three groups. One who want to make improvements (song books, standing, drums, pyro etc), one who think it’s the fans are fine and it’s the players not performing which is the issue and one who think the old way is best and everything should be spontaneous and original despite that clearly not being the case. Each of these groups keeps slagging off the other and no progress can be made. CM throwing a wasps nest in the middle of the three won’t help matters.

Well its got us debating it I guess.......To be fair I had already started a thread about the lack of atmosphere last night as it was so obvious at the game. Had we been as good as Trafalgar square and outside the ground it would have been rocking.....I havent been able to speak for 2 days and my throat is ruined so I know I was singing plenty but perhaps we need to stay a little more focused on the game rather than shooting our load in the fans zones or the fountains the night before?

So we should! We got 105 points after losing to Charlton in '98 so we have every right to set the bar high next season. You have to have ambition of you might as well give up. An extra 15 points is simply a case of converting some draws into wins and a good summer's recruitment could make the difference.

The problem we have is that most clubs we play at this level do see us as their cup final (I know, shit cliche), but check the stats - many clubs were below par in their next game after playing Sunderland suggesting they put everything into playing us and have nothing left for their next game. That is what we are up against but I have no qualms with Charlie Methven or anyone else setting 100 points as a target. Yes, it is unlikely - but it can be done.
Of course. My point, albeit mostly facetious, was that he’s called our expectations of promotion this season unrealistic on two separate occasions, now he wants us breaking records.

I agree we should set the bar high but the comparison with 98 is for the birds.

We had quality and determination throughout that squad. Our second choice strike force would have been the best in the division in 98/99. We needed two players to make us not far off unbeatable at that level. We signed Sorensen and Butler and the rest is history.

For this side to achieve a similar relative level, we need four new defenders, two central midfielders and two strikers and to retain our keeper and McGeady. All that is going to be a much bigger challenge than 98.

Imagine what he said about people watching it on telly!

The quiet crowd had nothing to do with enthusiasm and everything to do with partying the night before, exactly like the Checkatrade cup

We have a better starting point this year than last. If nothing else, a far longer planning period. There are holes in the squad, true, but this time last year it wasn't clear if there was a squad to have holes in.

Well if he is criticising the atmosphere, maybe he and the club can reflect on how they sold tickets. A lot of other clubs tried to create a singing section for their fans at Wembley. Our singers were dotted all over the place, rather than being together. If they were together it would have been much easier to get chants going, and would have fed through to other parts of the ground.

Pointed this out well before the final and also that Pompey had gone the extra mile to get theirs together and issue everyone with a free flag. There is responsibility with the owners for lack of atmosphere at Wembley and it wasn't exactly rocket science. In the main though Jack "the vampire" Ross sucks the life out of the fans more than any other single factor.

Posh twat? I saw Old Etonian trotted out earlier anarl, Tory twat too.

We were dissing the Daily Mail for comments like that last week.

He is an Old Etonian. The school has an ethos and moulds individuals in a very particular way. Supremely self confident and quite bullish. Methven appears to be both.

Think that's a kick in the teeth for the fans thst..so soon after failing to win promotion. He's gone about it all the wrong way imo and will rightly get lynched by the fans.

Hes a proper thick fuck at times, clearly doesn't think before he speaks. Way to go for getting season ticket sales, aye I'll just say the attendance for Sunderland was shit and they should be doing better, and the noise was dreadful.

Good one Charlie.

Hes gone and pissed me right off and I've not long calmed down over the abysmal showing our football players put on for us. Warra fuckin idiot. The audacity to criticise the fans man.

Agree with his last point. But there’s not a great deal I can do about that as a fan. Should I take time out of my day job to help them?

I hope to fuck that our player recruitment structure is being overhauled already. That’s point one.

it's a hard one like, because i'd say most of our signings were good signings. we over paid on grigg yes but what a signing for this level. mclaughlin was brilliant, maguire a good signing. leadbitter was a coup. baldwin highly rated at this level for a long time. and i think you could say the same about most, loovens is finished mind. dunne looked our best centre back when we signed him.

however, they have all turned out to be massively disappointing, bar mclaughin and o'nien.

i'd say that is down to the manager more than the recruitment team

Portsmouth had a specific video made for the final, had their owner geeing them up.

What did our fans get? The same video and music we have before home games. It was pathetic.

Anyone with half a brain cell could sense what would happen.

If said all day the worst thing we can do is take an early lead as we will completely sack off the game plan and lose.

Took early lead there just two months ago then did exactly the same thing. Happens every other week.

Take a lead. Shit the bed. Concede.

It took about 2 minutes to shit the bed after they scored for us on Sunday. Its almost as it they did it on purpose to beat us.

Charlie can fuck off bringing crowd numbers and noise into it for no reason whatsoever when we've been there twice in 2 month, travelled 300 mile to get there (again), dwarf Charltons home and away support weekly, and have a team/manager that having been joint second with two games in hand a month ago have gone on to totally fuck it up with almost offensive, piss taking performances like Fleetwood, Southend etc. We couldn't even hold a lead against Peterborough when we scored in the last minute.

All he's done is twist, talk f***ing complete bollocks, and rip people off with worthless membership schemes.
