Apologies if SEB, haven't seen anything about it. Bit of an odd interview like, suggesting Charlton are as big a club as us (seemingly specifically because they had more fans at Wembley and entirely ignoring the fact they had low attendances at the start of the season so effectively just had a lot of day trippers). Also mentioning the fans being quiet (can't really argue, although I'd argue that the football served up didn't exactly help). He divides opinion a bit so will be interesting to see how this one goes down

He’s spot on apart from the Wembley attendance dig. They didn’t have to travel the length of the country for starters, and hadn’t just made the exact same trip a few weeks prior.

The wembley attendances bit i didnt agree with but the rest he is correct. Fact is we are a poor city with one of the furthest trips to wembley, having only just been there 2month ago. Charlton had a short journey, are in a more affluent part of the country and hadnt just been to wembley

Then he better do something about getting us on a par with The Mighty Charlton Athletic?

Didn't think we were that quiet?
Not by comparison with Charlton?

He’s right about the performance and noise of the fans at Wembley, however having a pop that we sold less than Charlton is ridiculous really.

We sold out a 48K seater stadium on boxing day, sold out the Checkertrade final, just about every away game (if not all) and sold more season tickets than the year before, despite being a league lower.

Starting to come across as a right tosspot.

Good interview
Spoke from the heart. Spoke truthfully.
Dont think he said Charlton are as big as us, but that they also deserve more than league one too as are a big club, which they are tbh.
Better than wishy washy interviews you sometimes get

Bit of a silly time to give an interview for me. Just after defeat at Wembley with feelings and tensions running high. He seems like a football fan and a fan of the club and this interview seems very much like an angry rambling rant following a defeat. His slick PR persona had left him and emotion ran away with him. I think he was right that the fans were quiet and that we just weren't good enough on the pitch. Hes also right that we failed but I have no idea what his point was about Charlton having more fans than us was. Strange interview

Bloke is starting to get on my tits tbh, we’ve took 75000 fans in the last 6 weeks down to London. The money it’s cost to do that, we limped over the line at the end of the season and we’re shite on Sunday. As fans we want to be entertained, yes I understand at times we have to take one on the chin but we never got going on Sunday and for the way we played I thought our fans were class.

I can’t listen to the interview yet but most of the comments on Twitter are saying he’s spot on.

Basically says you can’t say that Sunderland deserve to go up because we are a bigger club than Charlton because on the evidence of Wembley attendance we aren’t as we sold 34k and they sold 40k. Adds to that our fans were quiet in comparison to there’s. Then the rest is just saying we all need to dust ourselves down, it’s been a failure but need to crack on rather than sulk.
