Charlton forum

I think that comment was tongue in cheek , it's just one guy trying to convince himself that we should win. We were lucky against Donny and that game on Friday knocked out any over confidence that we had. You get one guy make a comment like tinpot club , who cares , we've got Millwall for neighbours imagine the shit we get from them. We are the biggest South London club but have been in the doldrums for years so our support has been a bit doormant. Bowyer has awoken the fan base and the relative success of this season has been down to him despite the owner who tells us he can only devote 2% of his time to the club. We did at one time have an average home attendance of 40,000 and a record crowd of 75,000 , but we get called little old Charlton but we know the truth , if we could get an owner with ambition the club has great potential
No doubt Charlton are a bigger club than the modern generation realise.
You did average 40,000 once back in 1949 a long time ago but you could definitely generate decent crowds with a bit of success.

What I don't get.. I thought they weren't happy with there owners and were boycotting? But get to Wembley and sell over 30k??

So what's happening if they go up (I think u guys will win) and there owners that they don't like, don't invest and they are bottom of championship.. do they protest again?

I don't get it or have things changed?

Things haven't changed, protests in this country don't tend to bother the old scrote so focus has been more in Belgium where it hurts his credibility amongst "his people". I've no doubt this will continue next year if we don't have a new owner.

We sold out at The Valley and will do at Wembley because of Bowyer, Jackson and Steve Gallen (head scout). What they have achieved on a shoestring budget without a CEO is superb and we finally have a group of players who we feel is playing for the shirt (even the ones on loan).

We made the playoffs last year and only got about 14000 at home. Bowyer was in charge but it wasn't HIS team. There's a completely different feeling this time around.

I will try and give an explanation , the protests against the owner really started with a vengeance after he appointed as our manager a guy who was previously managing in the Belgium 3rd division. We wanted to force him to sell the club so began protesting and boycotting merchandise and food and drink outlets within the ground. A boycott of home games was talked about and many did but it was never called for. If you are a supporter you want to watch your team , there have been endless debates on charltonlife about whether to boycott or not. Some fans of 20/30 years stopped attending , others said nothing will stop me going to watch the team. Personally I have just done aways this season unless I have been able to get a freebie and deny Roland any money. The club now looses about £10 million a season , any sensible owner would cut his losses and sell up but he's a billionaire and is holding out for £65 million. It has dawned on us that we can't force him to sell the club , I've even been out to Belgium where about 300 of us marched through the streets of his town St Truiden which really got up his nose. There has been no organised home game boycott , but when you have an owner whose vision for the club is to produce young players to sell on to premier league clubs with no talk of any ambition for the club. We haven't got delusions of grandeur , most Charlton fans would be happy with championship football , but when you get called ' customers ' and Roland owns the club and the fans will just have to accept how he wants to run it you can see why we don't want him. He may own the freehold but it's OUR club not his , its a community asset. The feeling at the moment is let's forget about Roland and enjoy the football that Lee Bowyer's team is playing.

It will be as simple as waking up in the morning, getting dressed and tying shoe laces. This is our moment, our time. Charlton are just a team to make the numbers up for a final. They are irrelevant and will have no impact whatsoever.

Ignore him, am sure he is a Mag, is the most patronising poster to oppo on here, am sure it’s just to make us look like twats and get a bad rep.

Anyway always had a lot of time for Charlton, lived in S London for a while, went in your end for a match once when you were at the valley but redeveloping so we had a tiny allocation , home end was a temporary stand, think we won 1-0, friendly banter and respect all round that day, the thing that sticks out was the Mags lost 2-1 in the cup at Blackburn and your stadium announcer kept repeating the score saying this is for our visitors.

Anyway have a good one on Sunday but not too good obviously

IMO we’ve already beaten a better team over 2 legs to get here. ;) Good luck either way it has the makings of a decent spectacle. Certainly better than Shrewsbury and Rotherham or whatever it was last year.

The poster is a closet Mag mate.
We love them on here with their Gravy stained obsession about us.

We won't be thinking that. Fans or the team. you finished above us and have some cracking players. No big billy bollocks from our fans whatsover. Im still not convinced the poster Jay isn't a Mag, and i have posted on here for years, so don't take this forum as a guide to our fans[/
Iv'e been up to Sunderland a few times so I know you are a great bunch. I was in your museum back in August , in an old railway station and couldn't have had a nicer welcome

You should make a visit , great items on display like 1973 tracksuit tops from the cup final. A good 1998 play off final display and even super Clive's suit and a bar , whats not to like
