Wembley Apathy

Regardless of supporter numbers, phases and timing of block releases.... I' am staggered at the number of absolute shite excuses I'm hearing from "MLFs" for not attending the final on Sunday.

Literally can't believe the excuses. Promised the wife I'd paint the fence. Next door neighbours cousins daughters kids christening, family holiday in a caravn park in North Yorkshire, wormng the dog...

Yes we were there 8 weeks ago but really?

It was 16 years in between 1998 Play-off Final and 2014 Man City Final!!!! We have no reasonable grounds to expect we'll be there again in the next 5 years.

Absolutely pathetic. We are not as big a club as we make ourselves believe we are.
We have too many fans and not enough supporters

You could imagine us getting to the FA Cup final and the excuse for not going back after the semi would be “cant get a ticket bloody FA”

know a few people not going as they 'cant be arsed with the playoffs' but were at Wembley for the Checkatrade

i really don't get it. i can't see how a huge one off game for what we've been trying to achieve all season is something people aren't motivated for

cant wait me
They expect us to lose and can't wait to say 'told you so' and 'pleased I saved the money' !! If we win they'll come out as fanatical supporters

A lot of people here are very passionate about SAFC. But when you get older and life takes its natural course you realise that there are far more important things, especially if this is pre planned and paid for. Life for many people is pretty manic and managing to do everything isn’t possible.

I usually get to about 6 or 7 games a year these days. Mostly away due to living in Kent. Between 16 and starting to earn my own money and late twenties when marriage and kids cane along I hardly missed a game, home and away. I went to my first game 43 years ago and I love going to this day, no matter the result (a win is a lot better of course). I consider that SAFC is part of me, my family and I look at other SAFC fans as part of that. If some fucker wants to tell me I’m not a supporter and proud to follow Sunderland just because of how many games I currently go to they can fuck off. This is a massive club and anyone who thinks otherwise is a raging splitarse.

You need f***ing counselling mate

I didn’t bother going to Wembley last time as it would have cost me three days off work and I felt that the trophy itself was not worth bothering about.
On the Saturday night whilst everyone was having the time of their lives in Trafalgar Square, I was f***ing gutted to have not gone.
I reckon a lot of those not going will have similar feelings to me this weekend and this will be further exacerbated should we actually win.
To all those not going , you can’t buy these sort of memories .
This is why I decided to give the kids beans on toast for the next 12 months so we could go. To see us win at Wembley is what it’s all about and the look on the kids faces when I told them I’d got tickets was priceless!

Can't wait, seen the lads there a few times, doesn't get boring as it's such a special place.

Like I say , you can’t buy memories like that. Even if we are unsuccessful, your kids will remember the trip for the rest of their lives .
The games which I didn’t manage to get to ie Norwich and Liverpool , I can hardly remember a single thing about them but those where I did attend , those memories are vivid and priceless.

I've just been looking on the website, looks like it's definitely close to a sell out mind. A few singles dotted around and a few sections up in the gods but the rest look to have been snapped up

We have to win someday man even on the balance of probabilities.
Even the mags will win a game against us again at some point.

If you're going, you're going. What matters most is you're doing what's right for you. There's more to life than football. I normally switch off from it all now and do other stuff. Football is only one small part of my life.

I Know your imagination is more exciting than real life but some people just don't fancy it ,the rest you're making up
I've a different reason to my mate etc etc
