Man United

The PVA to MUFC & talking to a United fan on Sunday got me thinking about them.
They seem to have a relatively similar scenario to one that we found ourselves in. That being that they have a lot of the first team squad that are royally taking the piss out of the club and/or have a lifting attitude.
Players that just don't give a toss/are out of form (Lukaku, Pogba, Sanchez) or that simply aren't good enough that seemingly can't be shifted (Smalling, Jones)
IMO they need a huge clear out and to spend clever in building a team with the future in mind.
Realistically, who could they bring in to get themselves back on track?

The stage they're at, I really could see Woodward panic buying some absolute dross (maybe not Shelvey but players that should be nowhere near a Man United shirt)
I agree. I don't mind Man United to be honest. Enjoyed watching them a few years back. They just seem to have nothing about them now even with supposedly world class players. But as you said they can't be arsed.

I'm not a huge fan of them. Atm I feel sorry for OGS for walking into that absolute circus of a club. I'd like to see him do well but can't see it as one of two things will happen; a) he won't be given time if the squad is overhauled and rebuilt or b) the squad will be pretty much the same as this season with the same lack of talent and/or heart, and he'll be booted by Christmas with them sitting between 5th - 8th having not won in about 4

Just offered both them new contracts iirc

Still comfortably the biggest club in the country and one of the biggest in the world so can easily attract players regsrdless. Needs big cash investment now and over next few years (like City did) as the days of academies making the difference for the top sides appear to be gone.

The fella from Spurs would do a good job in my opinion.

Oh, and also, fuck them. And fuck everyone else.

Yep, absolutely baffled by that.
Smalling is absolutely dogshit and grapples everyone that comes near him in the box. Jones looks shot to bits. Any promise he showed as a youngun has vanished

As a player, though, if you had the choice between City - that challenge for the title year on year - Liverpool - that have done likewise in the CL the last couple seasons - or United - that seem to be treading water compared to the other top 6 clubs - where would you go?

Obvious answer is the other two I guess, but don't underestimate Man Utds pulling power (Didn't Sanchez choose Man Utd over Man City?). Also, whilst the two you mention will add a couple of big name players to their squad Man United will need to add six or seven, so for some of those they won't be competing against City and Liverpool.

its their spending power more than their pulling power thats at issue..

Well it shouldn't be given their riches. Look at how much they happily spunked on Sanchez and Pogba.

Aye, City & L'pool will add to strengthen.
Utd will add to rebuild, but it could be said that Arsenal and Spurs (or other top European clubs) that they're competing with. In the past, absolutely no question, you go to United, now however, players may have a tough decision.
