Game of Thrones season 8

Reet, I'm back and caught up.

Bit of a crap ending for Jaime and Cersei I think - thought there would have been a lot more to it. Sad to see Varys and the Hound go - great characters.

Dany a goner for certain, and I can't see Jon making it through either.

All a bit rushed I think.

Almost thought Rhaegal was going to abandon her and fly back to Winterfell to be with Jon like - that woulda been a laugh.

Still not sure what to make of the fourth dragon in the title credits. Might it's head look a tad 'wolfy'?

"All a bit rushed" keeps being said, but I still don't know what they could have done without being accused of padding it out. The only thing I've seen so far is someone suggested that they should have shown them clearing and burning bodies after the battle with The Night King. If you watch some of the behind the scenes stuff it makes you realise how much time has gone into it. Varys death scene took 7 weeks to shoot and it lasted about 5 minutes.

I used to get frustrated in earlier seasons where absolutely fuck all would happen for about 6 episodes, then something mad would happen and the season would drift off again. They're closing things off fine imo but can see where people are coming from.

I dunno - it just seems a lot of things are conveniently falling into place to end it. Fair enough everyone has to converge on King's Landing, so I dunno what else they could have done.

?

They did
Showed you them burning bodies, but some posted saying that they should have spent about 20 minutes showing them clearing the lot.

The difference is though that the majority of predictions have been wrong. People have focused their predictions on prophecy and tried to match clues up along the way to guess the ending. If I'm honest that's been one of the most enjoyable parts of following it. There's never been any heroes in GoT and it has stayed true to itself imo by ending with tragedy for just about everybody. Infact I wouldn't be surprised if there was nobody left at all by the end.

The Cersei Valonqar prophecy was never in the show anyway so I guess we now know why.

In a show this huge then all sorts of mad theories are gonna come out (Littlefinger being alive as it was a faceless man who died, hundreds of dragons appearing during the siege of Kings Landing, Bran being the Night King).

I think a big chunk of the disappointment is for a lot of those people who got way too behind a certain theory and were disappointed that it didn't happen.

It's not just the show being popular.

I've had about a decade of this on book threads across the internet. Every minutiae of those things have been picked over and debated.

Agree with that. I'd convinced mesell the whole lightbringer thing would happen and that would be Dany's ending - that of course went out the winda 3 episodes ago.

Our lass thinks I'm a reet geek 'cos I get git into it reading up on the background etc - she's reet mind - yet she managed to call it right about Dany ages ago n she just watches it.

I think the Northern faction that remained North should be alright now. I've fancied Sansa for teh throne for a while - just not sure how it'll get there.

The idea was that Cersei would command the ringing of the bells and open the gates to the Red Keep as a sign of surrender. However, Jamie never got to her in time and she remained defiant until the Unsullied had breached the gates of the Red Keep which by then was under attack itself by Dany.

So how reliable was the ringing of the bells at that point in time? On the ground to the two armies facing off it may have seemed reliable but there was still a substantial Red Guard in the rest of the city.

I'm the same when I get into something. I watched the first episode of that Chernobyl thing and found myself reading about various models of nuclear reactors. I have friends, I'm married with children and enjoy a decent social life, honest.

I think the budget is going against them a bit. It most cost a fortune to record an episode never mind a series. It's always hard to bring something like A Song of Ice and Fire to a big screen so to do it successfully on the small screen takes some doing.

As for the storyline, it might seemed rushed but if you look at the entire show the stories have been leading up to this. Dany for instance. She just didn't change over night. Looking back you could see little things in her character and how she was thought growing up. She is the rightful ruler of Westeros and the people call her name in the streets etc..

It's been building up since season one imo.

I can only imagine how much the Battle of Winterfell and the Siege of Kings Landing cost.

2 of the most visually impressive episodes of TV I've ever seen, wouldn't be out of place in a film.
