Sub 2 hour marathon attempt

My best efforts were 4 hour 1 min for a marathon. 1.31 for half and 5m 20 for a mile. Most people on here couldn't run 200 metres at the pace he's going to do for 26 mile.

Problem with doing it in a timed official event is you need the right course, right conditions and optimised training.

Berlin is as close as you’ll find to that. He took more than a minute off the WR there last year which was the most it’s dropped in about 50 years.

If he was trying to do this sort of thing having not won major races etc I’d think it was daft but anyone trying to push boundaries to see what they are capable of gets my vote.

Oh aye. Totally agree. It's still someone running a marathon in under 2 hours. f***ing incredible if he can do it.

Yes I think he will too. I haven't read the article. Have they said where it will be?

Not yet no, either September or October but place TBC. It’s not Nike backed this time it’s the fella who’s just bought Team Sky out who’s looking after the attempt.

Well, I can dream that someone actually gains a record honestly. :D

Understood, but the record books should list assisted and unassited records.

Okay, but subject to my above comment.

It will only show his unassisted WR which I think is a shame.

Never really thought about elite marathon times, 13mph is absolutely insane. I doubt I could do that in a sprint.

I'm happy when I'm out on my bike doing 50 miles average 15-16mph.
