Metro 2019

Metro's been off between Benton and Tynemouth due to the overhead lines coming down. The whole system must need gazillions spent on bringing it up to where it should be.

Wife started a new job in January east boldon to regent centre, on the way to work she gets a metro two ahead of the one she should get because it's so unreliable.
Three lates in her probationary period could cost her the job.

Update on the situation regarding service suspension in North Tyneside - unfortunately its not looking good with two sections of line been brought down in different areas:

METRO SERVICE UPDATE: BENTON – AT JAMES

Services on the Tyne and Wear Metro are to remain suspended between Benton and St James for the rest of today, Monday 29 April, and into tomorrow, Tuesday 30 April, after two sections of overhead line came down.

A total of 600 metres of Metro’s overhead line has come down between Palmersville and West Monkseaton, causing damage to masts in the area. An 800 metre section of overhead line is also down at Chillingham Road.

Nexus, the public body which owns and manages Metro, says the extent of the damage is significant. Engineers are on site to carry out repairs as quickly as possible and will work through the night, but Nexus has warned services will still be affected tomorrow morning.

A frequent replacement bus service and ticket acceptance on local bus services is in place and staff have been sent to affected stations to look after passengers, who are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow updates online.

Not being funny but how do lines just come down? People been at it overnight trying to thieve it and botching it? Or just unsafe infrastructure?
It’s mental how often the lines come down like. The system is dropping to bits. Just wait till the congestion charge Newcastle are trying to shoehorn in comes about.

There will be 10s of thousands of people late or not at work every day.

Does she work for the SS? Seems a bit harsh if there are mitigating circumstances.

It's 600m worth of lines, most likely something has come loose, a train has come along and dragged it that far pulling it down. Lots of work to get that repaired so it's no wonder they are saying it'll be off into tomorrow morning too.
