We’re gonna win the league!



I'm not giving up hope of automatic promotion, but I'm resigned now to playoffs. There could be a couple of shock results yet.

Problem with here and Internet forums in general is you get the vocal extreme ends of the arguments shouting at each other. Moderate and sensible people generally can’t be arsed with fighting through the noise to hold reasonable discussion.
 
Looking at the games each have left there’s still the potential for twists & turns yet. It’s a glass half full/KTF scenario but not impossible.

Luton - Burton (a), Oxford (h). Burton will want a good result for last home game & Luton are getting jittery. Burton win. Oxford are 2nd in the form table with 5 wins, 1 draw in last 6. One more win and they’ll be flying last game, not a team Luton want if they still need points to clinch the title. Draw.

Barnsley - Blackpool (h), Bristol Rovers (a). Blackpool are free of Oyston, enjoying their footy again so can see them springing a surprise. Draw. Rovers won’t be a challenge so ...Barnsley win.

Portsmouth - us (a), Pboro (h), Accrington (h). Lose to us. Posh may spring a surprise now they have a chance of play offs but can’t see them taking it. Pompey win. Accrington won’t be a challenge. Pompey win.

Sunderland - only one scenario, win all 3. If we get win over Pompey think we’ll have enough momentum to win the last 2.

So Luton would finish on 92, Barnsley on 92, Pompey on 92 and.......we finish on 93......happy days......KTF....

The thing is those predictions are well reasoned. It’s distinctly possible, even quite likely. All in all I think we have about a 30% chance of automatic. I think that’s what most people would think if they’re honest. There is an outside chance we can still win it.

With four teams still in it it’s going to be the two that hold their nerve. And we are due a bit of luck ffs.

Exactly. I wouldn't want Luton's games if we were pushing for the title. Oxford won't want the season to end and Luton are getting the wobbles. Blackpool could derail Barnsley so that leaves us to do what is required. I've mates who are Leeds fans who 2 months ago were so sure they'd be up they couldn't see any other outcome. Now the wobbles are in, they're on the back foot. There's always some dynamic last minute surprise on deadline day.....could it be us winning away at Southend to secure the 3rd win on the bounce and then be told we've won the league or are automatically up? Lets hope so.....KTF...

Well said fella.

The trouble is the negative bedwetters on here tvink tvst by choosing to look on the bright side you’re done happy clapper. We stayed in the prem four seasons running when being down and out with half a dozen games left.

By choosing to think we have a chance us not saying it’s going to happen. The odds are a bit against us now. But it doesn’t take a rediculous turn of events to see us promoted automatically. It may not even matter what Barnsley do. Luton could be going into a last game with Oxford needing to win and the pressure on them would be huge.

Let’s see what Saturday brings lads n lasses. We may be right back in it.
