Blessing in Disguise

Apparently it will be worse financially if we go up due to bonuses etc.

I also remember claims that winning games will improve the morale of the fans and make it more enjoyable than just scraping survival. Well we've won more games this season than any of our premier league seasons, but if we don’t go up this will be one of our worst seasons (if not the worst) in our history.

Winning 9 games in the premier league and finishing 17th is light years ahead of this.
The most enjoyable season we had in recent memory I was told. Much better to be in League One winning every week rather than making up the numbers in the Premier League.

This team would get thumped every other week in the championship.
Disappointed we've thrown two golden opportunities away this season which could have had us challenging for the title.
But failing to win in nearly half the games this season, after the money spent, smashing the league one record, just shows they aren't good enough.
I'd be amazed if we win the playoffs.

What was our transfer ban for again? I can't remember?

I mean without it we could get promoted with this team and add some players more capable on the championship.

I have to agree with your sentiment but I want to add that I am not wanting or wishing the club to fail.

we have failing yes. central defence is an obvious place to start.

I also think we lack fluidity on moving from defence to attack and I think our strikers for some reason are failing us.

That simply could be not getting the service they need or it could be tactical.

On the bright side, from where we were last year what an amazing turn around. a lot of the player issues are no more.

the club seems to be on a better financial footing despite its resources being threadbare. A lot of the issues of previous years have been laid out in the open for all to see.

The club and the fans are getting connected again and the men at the top are doing what needs to be done and supporters do have a smile on their face.

I think Jack Ross will learn from this and become even better.

So whatever happens I have my season card for next year. My grandson has his (thanks grandad) and my granddaughter (9 months) has hers (thanks grandad), but I don't think she will be attending for a few years yet.

The current side is awful & will be built around the likes of Honeyman. Embarrassing really.

What we needed was to build the side around Josh Maja and then benefit from his development. Hopefully if we don't go up we can introduce Embleton & grow with him in the side.

maja was never going to stay. his agent made sure of that

Has a big affect money wise though, McGeady will go...plus others so no it’s not a blessing in disguise

This. work could be done during the summer, we'd have the last parachute payments to help as well and we'd have momentum. staying down means we could lose someone like Mcgeady and anyone else who a club likes the look of, though currently I'm struggling to think of many more.

Staying down might mean we can build a side more suited to playing at this level and getting out of the division, but if we did unearth some real talent at this level it would be gone in the next transfer window so I see no benefit in not getting promotion.

If we did by some chance go up with this squad, we’d be mid table at best, A small fortune would be needed to compete and these two boys haven’t got anywhere near that.

It's hardly an amazing turnaround at all. The season before last Rotherham finished rock bottom of the championship and then got promoted again last season.

The least we could expect was the playoffs. If we don’t get promoted it will be a complete failure , similar to relegation last season.
