Cross platform gaming...

My eldest is 8 and has an xbox, the youngest is 6 with a switch. The youngest is desperate to play Minecraft online with his brother and some mates that also have xbox. I know it's possible to play Cross platform but I can't figure it out. Has anyone managed to do this and have a instruction guide for a nooob like me. The little lad is breaking his heart not being able to play with his big brother.

I've got this posted in the gaming forum as well but figured more people would read it in here.

Things have changed since my day. This legal?
Yes, I know next to fuck all about this sort of thing, the 8yr old set it up on fortnite but minecraft (I think it's crap as well, but the little one loves it) seems more tricky. It's asking for realm codes and I've no idea. Google isn't very forthcoming either.

Don't knar much about it but I'm sure it's only for certain games. I'd be surprised if Minecraft doesn't do it like.

Just do as another poster said and get another xbox, he'll want one eventually and it'll be most likely around christmas time when they're more expensive.

I haven't done it, but I do know for certain that Xbox and Switch have cross platform on Minecraft. They made a huge song and dance about it.

I've always found Minecraft to be fiddly as fuck.

I'm sure the menus are purposely designed to be irritating :p

Anyway i'm clearly an idiot as the kids can find their way around it blindfolded.

I knaa exactly what you mean. I can't get away with it myself but my kids love it.
