One what basis is he good enough for the first team?
I didn't say he was but he was playing well for the u23's last season and made a few matchday squads but has apparently been injured most of if not all of this season. Like i said i didn't know what had happened to him, wasn't sure if he was injured/moved on.
I was merely saying due to our problems at fb had he been fit and performing he 'might' have been given an opportunity like Hume has on the opposite side.
He'd have at the very least got some time in the trophy. Hunt got a chance at rwb against Morecambe i think it was and Gamble is definitely a better rb than him he's awful.

Gamble has been playing CM.

Slightly off subject but in the summer we were told that the u23's would be recruiting talent from other lesser academies. I think SD said it was about time we threw our weight around or something to that extent. Yet so far as i know this hasn't happened and they've played the entire season without a recognised fullback or a No.10. Mumba has been pushed further forward into the No.10 role and not looked comfortable there at all. When I've seen them this season they've generally looked better in a 433 but i get the feeling Dickman has been asked to replicate the 1st teams usual 4231.

Has he? Like i said not seen him mentioned much this season hence why i thought he may have even moved on. I know he came from Doncaster as a cm but we converted him into a rb to utilise his pace. I hadn't heard we'd moved him back to his original position, seems a strange decision when he was doing so well (last season).

u23 players are not academy players are they? academy stops at a younger age group-we might be recruiting them at an earlier age.

No, the u23s is still classed as academy level.

Ive noticed we have had players on trial from other teams who are being released for both u18/u23 teams. Its ridiculous we are not signing the better players for cat 2 academies.

True yeah never thought of it like that. I think it's just everytime I've watched them this season they've looked woefully lopsided with centre mids and centre backs playing fullback. Plus the fact they're not getting the best out of Mumba just thought one or 2 could have been purchased for specific positions even if it was from none league (i know we've had a few on trial from there).

i keep telling you peopl..players dont give a fuck that its a cat one academy..
we have signed players from other clubs youths for years-i cant see how that has changed now? but they dont move because some geezer in a suit said outr academy is better/.cat two academies can be at clubs in higher divsions..the divison the first team are in is what matters to young players-not the category of the academy..

so mumba-who is on a professional contract-not a scholarship and plays for thre u23s is still classed as academy? even though he is on a pro contract

why does jack ross class the u23s as the academy? you really have no idea.

i dont understand you have such a short term view and dont see that the academy is the future of the club. The higher the category the better players you attract. Do you think parents would send their kids to us from this area if we were cat 2 when Newcastle and Boro are cat 1? We will be then left with the less talented players in the north east. From that, you seem to love the fact we are selling 14 year olds. that wouldnt happen because they will be at boro and newcastle not us.

does jack ross count the u23s as the academyy? who is in charge of the u23s.
yes attracting better players to the actual academy helps..but playerrs dont give a fuck if its category one..they care more about almost everyhing else..

i think players will go to the club in the highest division they can...not the highest stature academy they can..
the next consideration is likeilohood of getting into first team.
we lost a player this very summer to a category two academy..but a divison higher..
