Moving to the city

What type of work do you do, I was recently looking and Newcastle unfortunately has a lot more to offer in the way of jobs and not all near Metro lines, so for locations I’d be looking at places near the A19 and think about a car.

If you’re starting in Shildon why not move 100 years into the future by moving to Horden, where it’s currently 1879?

Or for a jump to the 1920s, try Murton or get a job at beamish.

Bloody hell, just imagine the next 20 years. Sunderland AFC has just been founded and the team is going to be a dominant force in English football during the league's early years.

I like Jesmond, like.

Jokes aside, you could do the same as a lad I know from London who got a job up here. He got a flat in the Jesmond area while he worked up here, using the Metro as an easy commute to where he worked in Hebburn.

He had a long distance relationship with a lass in Cambridge, now his wife (wad and no), who could travel up the East Coast Mainline on weekends to see him.

The point is you'd be central to everything and on finding a job, you could review your options if you just rent for the time being.

Sunderland is still sort of a branchline if you like and (as horrible as it is to say) Newcastle is central to most commutes in our part of the North East.

Thanks for the tips. In the short term, I would probably commute from Shildon rather than rent short-term in Newcastle/Sunderland, that way saving money for a deposit on somewhere for the long term. There's lots to consider but Jesmond will definitely be on the list.

Thanks everyone, actually; you've given me quite a lot of food for thought.
