Notre Dame (Paris) on fire?

Quasimodo predicted this.

If we're being literary, it would probably be time for Gargantua to take a leak. A few thousand people might drown, but the fire would go out.

But seriously, that looks awful. From the video it looks like the fire is under the roofline, not just exterior.

Scaffolding visible in that video. Hope the fire isn’t due to hot works on the roof.
I was wondering if it was the scaffolding and building works on fire, rather than the top of it. If it is in the roof then that is a huge fire. I think it is big and open to the roof inside, so I would expect smoke coming out the sides too if that were the case.

Flames are coming through the windows from the vid on twitter. It looks like a lot of the roof will be gutted.

The timbers in there are both heafty and very dry. Once up, it’s like a tinder box.

Just watched a live video, aye that place is gone like

doing work on buildings that old will always carry a risk

Well, most of the building is stone. I think the only timber is in the roof, but presumably that will go, as would anything inside as it collapses. It's pretty awful.

Hopefully loads of drag queens aren't descending onto the scene.

That really is tragic though. Beautiful gothic architecture.

How did this happen?

There’s a good chance the masonry will perish also. The heat from the fire will dry the mortar and the roofing timbers will act like a brace to those high walls.

Ower the heed comes to mind.

And here.

You’ve lost me?
