It should be a major factor imo. Golf is ultra competitive. His level of dominance was that good he was going off even money favourite in events when pre him it would be 10/1 the field. 50 plus folk have a genuine chance of winning tournaments and the winner has got to beat every single one if these. That happens in no other sport
 
Please feel free to explain why, in your opinion, golf is neither complex nor challenging.
I'm not here trying to make the case. Why don't you convince me it draws upon a wider range of skills than some of the other top sports?

He has clearly been a very very very good golfer. Which is not the be all and end all in this question.

Rafa Nadal. His never say die attitude and the way he conducts himself on the court are examples for all youngsters in any sport to follow.
