Missiles being hoyed all game from North Stand Upper

I assume you aren’t seated in the north stand? This is something that escalated throughout the game, was 1-2 things first goal, 3-4 things second goal then they seen it was winding people up. Fourth goal there must have been over 100 items come over the top, similarly for our fourth goal. There was some fat lad in the front row within touching distance of a copper who threw several items and nothing was said to him. Coppers refused to act, stewards were powerless to act according to them. So yes it was 100% the clubs fault for letting it escalate. They caused the post match triuble
I'm in the North West corner and saw everything, I understand you are very upset at what happened and I would be the same had I sat there however, I don't agree with it was all the fault of the club, the club were not throwing things over that balcony the Coventry fans were, I fully agree the Police and stewards should have done more and that's down to the match commander, the club can't order the Police to do something they are unwilling to do. I'm sure it will be dealt with in due course.

It happens I suppose but not to the scale of yesterday like.

Fully agree.
Yesterday it was awful and far worse than ever before...but to say it hasnt happenend in the past is wrong.

We need to be better protected.
Next time someone could be killed.

Amazing what people take to and use as missiles at football matches.

@SimonPeach: Didn’t expect to see this by the Old Trafford dugout. So. Many. Questions.

Search them all, every one off them and if they miss part of the game.
Tough shit.

Which set of fans are going to be the first to throw darts?

If the upper tier structure doesn't allow for checking people for bottles etc when going into the seat area then don't sell bottles. Similarly, don't sell alcohol when it's edgy.

Or stopping the game so the police could remove the Coventry fans.
Away fans clearly don't even get searched as the flares can testify..

Thing is, sorry but you have to tarnish all the Coventry fans that were there with the same brush imo. If there was decent folk there just to watch the game, why didn't they try and confront the wankers who were throwing stuff down? I'm sure if that was us at an away ground there'd be people kicking off with the perpetrators. So to me, they're all f***ing scumbags and I hope they go out of business.

Have a read of the Coventry forum. Theres a lot of their what must be more decent lads having a go about this and saying the perpetrators should be banned.

Brain dead morons, I’m tempted to send E-mails not just to the club and police but also all the midland clubs contemplating taking them on in a ground share. Really hope they are expelled from the EFL.

......this won’t happen. The EFL haven’t the balls to implement it. They will bend over backwards to accommodate them.

It's always the same marra

Be the scum amongst them

Saying we took our end in twenty years time

Bit still doesn't deflect how slow shitty Northumbria were & the stewards were.

If the police response was as bad as people are claiming, can the club not withhold a percentage if not all of the match policing fee until a full investigation occurs? Serious question as what are we actually paying them for if they do nothing to stop public disorder.

Not really the case in this situation though. This is about incompetence of the police who were there, not how many of them there were.

Like I've posted before

The stewards & polis

We're looking up,to what was happening & before our section were really going to kick off

They were werent ganna dee a damn thing about it

Looks like the SAFC employed stewards and their leaders have now revealed their true colours. Shit hot on standing and dawdling in walkways when they know there’ll be no comebacks from the person they’re hassling but deliberately ignoring serious breaches of the safety certificate regs. Basically only there to earn en extra few bob which has been pointed out on here thousands of times previously.
I honestly believe the general public have unrealistic expectations of the police gleaned from seeing diligent honest unflappable officers on tv who are keen to not only do the right thing but to be seen to be doing the right thing. They’ve a sense of duty and realise they’re there to protect and serve. They’re public servants with a realisation of what that means and requires. Whereas in reality I’m afraid we have Northumbria police.

After the match mate, the question was raised was our support too soft? Now, personally, I love the fact away fans can come to the SOL and enjoy a friendly atmosphere, but after today,I can sadly see that changing.
It’s inevitable after yesterday. In recent years Sunderland supporters have been rightly proud of our approach to away support. We’ve been praised to the rafters by visiting fans and rightly so. However after yesterday and after Celtics visit I can see that changing. There was a time that Sunderland wasn’t a nice place to visit. Unfortunately I can see a time when once again this will be the case.

I noticed a load of them being escorted past the Hilton about 1430. Presumably the same lot causing bother in The Wheatsheaf. Most of them appeared to be carrying their drinks, wouldn't be surprised if they just opened the turnstiles are told them to piss off into the stand hence the bringing in of restricted items. Although when I walked past the away turnstiles quarter of an hour later the stewards and police appeared to searching all of Coventry fans waiting to get in. Obviously the searches were not done well enough judging by all the smokebombs and flares that went off when they scored their first goal indicating something went wrong with the security arrangements.

Prior to having a pint I used the train from Newcastle to Sunderland at 1241 and it was one of the worst train journeys I have ever been on, full of Coventry fans singing all sorts of shite, including Mag songs referring to Cheesy Chips, Sunderland's a massive club, seen you crying on netflicks and such like while acting like total and utter cocks. Horrible bunch of fans, hope they go bust.

We were on that train (12;41 from Newcastle)..full of Coventry's worst element....same on the return from Sunderland, (17;30)...complete clowns acting up in front of families ..shoppers, etc..
