Missiles being hoyed all game from North Stand Upper

There were Coventry fans standing arms length from officers in the concourse and they done nothing.

Theres was the odd thing coming down all game but there was a 10-15 minute spell in second half after they scored when it was relentless. People saw nothing happen to the first lot throwing so followed suit with a mob mentality.

Police threatening to arrest our fans for complaining about being hit. Total farce.

I agree.

I was seething mate. (See my other posts on other threads).

But I do honestly believe it was down to bad planning and underestimating the volatility of the fixture.

I’ll call the Mags on most things but let’s not distract this thread with our hate for them. This is Coventry behaving like animals and there not being the manpower or a strategy for dealing with this.

Aye, that’s fair enough.

Coventry were vermin like. Even before yesterday’s game Ive always found the attitude of the police at our match very uninterested. Lessons must be learned from yesterday.

I can remember a few years ago (I think when Paul Weir was in charge of security) a big "show" on local tv of how powerful the cameras were, and that if you threw anything they would find you. Surely after the first few missiles (especially the flare) they should have zoomed in and wound back and sent about 5 plod in to get each offender(s). Once the Coventry (and no doubt Portsmouth to come) saw arrests being made it would stop. There was also certain individuals hanging over the top goading the whole North Stand - surely they did enough to be removed/arrested?
I thought rhis would have happened straight away as well. Can't believe they stood back and did absolutely nothing.

Dreadful that marra. Hope she’s ok.

The issue appeared to be that we didn’t have enough police or stewards available. This game should have been treated like a derby rather than any other normal match.

The club seriously need to review their policies regarding away fans. I moved back to the North Stand this season but there’s no way I’ll be back there next year if this isn’t sorted.
Find that hard to believe, there were loads of stewards and police in the Sunderland end, should have moved more up if needs be.

Fair enough. But I’d imagine the plan is to have police all around the ground.

The coppers from the North Stand lower were allocated there so would hardly be able to be sent up stairs.

The whole thing seemed to be reactive rather than proactive.

Those police standing in north stand should have moved into SAFC seating blocks to deter Cov fans chucking shit or should have moved SAFC t safety

Thing is, sorry but you have to tarnish all the Coventry fans that were there with the same brush imo. If there was decent folk there just to watch the game, why didn't they try and confront the wankers who were throwing stuff down? I'm sure if that was us at an away ground there'd be people kicking off with the perpetrators. So to me, they're all f***ing scumbags and I hope they go out of business.

The thing is though mate; if you read the Coventry board, some just think we are bad losers . When in reality, yesterday was the worst trouble I’ve seen inside the SOL since it opened.

Whilst the club may be liable, they also have a duty of care towards the fans in that stand. Yesterday they failed and today they need to make some sort of statement and put pressure on Coventry to sort out their support. Make no mistake, it’s pure luck that no one was seriously hurt yesterday.

It’s pretty worrying, when you turn from your seat and just see bottle after bottle being chucked.
You can’t have been at the game against the mags where there was fighting on the pitch then mate. Back when they were in the south stand!

This is a good point also. I’ve been at away games where single items have been chucked but I’ve also seen other Sunderland fans reporting the incident, rather than encouraging and joining in with the hooliganism. Only takes one coin to blind a person, one bottle to cause significant damage to a kids head, etc. - yes it’s only plastic but I wouldn’t fancy coping a bottle from that height onto my head, so definitely wouldn’t want my kid to have to be hit. I spent most of the match cautiously looking over my shoulder to protect my girl instead of watching the match. What should have been game of the season was spoilt in that I missed most of the match

difficult for any cameras to identify them when they used the camouflage of a goal to launch the bottles etc
I know a couple of mags were done for throwing coins in the last derby game but they were too thick to consider this & were picked out easily

If the coppers with the away fans have lost control, they should definitely be sent upstairs.

That isnt true.

Man utd,Everton and Newcastle have all thrown objects down.

Everton lad two rows in front of me got hit by plastic bottle.
Man u,were awful think it was the semi final, they were throwing coins.

It happens I suppose but not to the scale of yesterday like.
