Missiles being hoyed all game from North Stand Upper

I’ve got up this morning and still can’t believe it, I was in the north stand with my daughter and luckily we were more towards the east corner so avoided the missiles but I saw all sorts come over the top. Coins bottles with piss in them. Kids being escorted away. Parents covering kids heads. Absolutely f***ing disgraceful I’m angry about it so can’t imagine how those feel who actually got hit or kids were affected.

And anyone who doubts this I can tell you it 100% happened, and the police and stewards did fuck all to stop it. The full North stand we’re going mental shouting up to sort it out. Suprised everyone in the stadium didn’t notice it.

Police and Stewards standing there doing nothing whilst families get pelted, unbelievable really.

This. They should be identified.

Chucking things from a height at kids and women where no one can get to them.

Coventry =cowardice scum.

Come and do it face to face with men.

They have to go back and live in Coventry. It is a punishment but the police need to identify them and get a lot of them banned.

Nah mate, it's just because Sunderland supporters are soft as shite (that's the patter on their forum).

Its been awful reading this thread. We sit in the East Stand (towards the South corner) and didn't see what was happening. Obviously the blame lies both with the away supporters and our club who have failed to keep our fans safe. What is the point in the Stewards if they do nothing at all to stop trouble like this when its happening? And the Police.... what are they actually meant to do in these circumstances? I find it disgusting that both looked on and did nothing. If Coventry fans think we are sore losers and making stuff up or whatever, the CCTV will prove that it did happen.

I trust Stewart Donald and think he will come and out and condemn what they did. And then he really needs to put measures in place so this never happens again.

The stewards seem more interested in making sure you don't stand in the access tunnels, or God forbid you dare to sit in a seat other than your own. What went on yesterday was a disgrace.

I actually thought I’d calm down this morning mate, but I’m still livid. Yesterday was just shocking and I’m disgusted with the club. My emails went in this morning, but it’s going to be hard not to cancel direct debits.

I hope everyone sends emails. Anyone who saw what was happening should report it.
Who did you send emails to?

sorry like but as much as i feel sorry for the people who had to deal with it, and how shit it was overall, the club cannot be held responisble in anyway for what they did. we have had away fans up there for years and years, including the mags several time, with very little of this type of thing. what were the club supposed to do and how were they supposed to know to do it?

the only people who are responisble fo the whole thing are the bell ends doing it.

The club are responsible for the fans safety. And it was at risk Big time.. Police and stewarding are part of the clubs responsibility and they did nothing but watch while objects were being thrown constantly.. May as well of saved themselves the cash and told police and stewards not to bother turning up to work, thats how effective they were. The club and only the club are responsible, stewards and policing are part of the club so it all falls back on the club.

I’m in the west stand so no idea how frequent it was but at one point definitely saw a couple of what looked like bottles (filled with beer, hopefully, and not something else) being thrown down simultaneously.

The Steward induction will be 8 minutes long and be everything home fans aren't allowed to do
Not one will have any training or experience in large crowd control

I'm probably being over dramatic because I was two rows away from being hit with a bottle.. But two stewards in the away section were actually mocking the Sunderland fans as if they didn't give a shit what was happening.. Not on either way.

I’m row 30, just to the left of the goal mate (looking towards the pitch).

I go with a few of the lads and one of them took his 8 year old son today as he has done for some other games this season.

The kid was scared. He had to sit on his Dads knee just so he could watch the match and be protected. Then the bottles kept coming. Eventually they and another couple with kids in front of us ended up moving to some seats in the BCB.

Fortunately they did as one of the lads in the row in front of us then got hit with a beer bottle.

I’ve written to that Chris Waters this morning as I was too annoyed last night. I’ll be quite happy to represent any one on this forum and ensure that we get the response that we think is adequate.

Can you report that?

Please.

I'm not sure how they can stop this happening in isolated games, as it isn't the norm. We've had big games and big away following in the NSU on loads of occasions. Yesterday wasn't the norm.

My daughter was in the North Stand yesterday and she hated it. Moved seats in the end. Maybe the police could do more. Maybe the club could. Ultimately those in the wrong are the cretins throwing stuff.
Quite easy to stop it happening in isolated games, clear the stand, those standing by and watching idiots lob dozens of objects down onto families are culpable, to a lesser extent, to those doing it and if it means they lose the privilege of watching a game of football then so be it.

Whilst the club has responsibility for the safety of the fans, the policing should be looked into. There were coppers up there who could see what was happening and the match commander would have known and should have acted to control the situation, if that was redirecting resources or stopping the game until the idiots were turfed our or arrested so be it.
