Burnley hint at permanent Dunne move
Premier League outfit Burnley are hoping to improve their homegrown options by expanding their academy so it meets the Category 1 criteria.

While discussing those aims, the Lancashire club’s technical director Mike Rigg has said the club want to bring through another player - like recent England under-21 international Dwight McNeill - or sell youngsters for a profit, to which Rigg gave on-loan defender Jimmy Dunne as an example:

A big part is to go to Category 1 with the Academy.

We want to be one of the best Academies in the country, but we can’t spend what Manchester City spend, so we’ve got to do what’s right for us. If we get a Dwight McNeil in the team, or a Jimmy Dunne is [potentially] sold to Sunderland, etc,etc

He's not been great but for a reasonable fee I'd happily see him come here and we can develop him. At 21 there's still plenty of chance he can improve as a player, especially in that position. Been underwhelming as a loan with no option to buy because I don't think he significantly improves us, but he is one who could be worth bringing in permanently
he has far more potential than baldwin..i mean i would keep both..

sorry to disagree but I'd bin both. The Peterborough lads posted on here that Baldwin always had an accident or mistake in him once in a game and were not to fussed he moved here.
well we have the third best defensive record in this division and baldwin is part of that,..
i wouldnt have baldwin, flanagan or dunne, as first choice if we go up..but all are adequate back up players in the higher division..
dunne is younger and rawer than the other two so has more capaity to improve..flanagan is the most talented of the three right now..and hads over 50 championship games under his belt..experienced cover..

Nowhere near good enough for champo if we get there

We sold John Egan without giving him a game and he has gone on to prove what a bad piece of business that was. A lot of CBs get better as they get older ( until their pace leaves them ). Dunne is a decent prospect
how has egan proved it was a bad bit of business? we were a prem club..we relaed him because we didnt think he was prem standard..he has never played in the prem..we were right..
he might play in the prem next year..and might be of that standard..but should we hold onto players for a decade on the basis they might be good enough eventually? people on here whined about louis laing being released...he has done nowt.

at 21 few are..he has time to develop..

If only Flannagan could stop slicing those forward balls into touch when he tries to play from the back ...He must have a near 90% success rate of putting the ball out:)

i guess thats a fair enough argument...but the fact that Egan has had a decent record at Championship level ibdicates he should at least been given some sort of opportunity whilst here...eg in the Cup games v Carlisle, Pools, etc etc
