Garmin

Do you need your phone to use garmin pay?

nope, but it has apple pay on it so can use that the majority of the time. I reckon I'll just get the Instinct which has all the features I need and spend the rest on hookers and blow :)

I got the forerunner 35 for Christmas and im not impressed with it at all. Ive had the forerunner 10 for 5 years which is basic but did the job and I only replaced it cos the charging port was knackered. It can take an absolute age to pick up gps and syncing it with the app on my phone is a right clart on cos it keeps losing connection. Like i say not impressed at all

The fenix has a full colour display, Garmin pay and can store 500 songs as well as better fitness tracking & navigation etc

I’d definitely use Garmin pay, the other features would be a nice to haves. If it wasn’t for the massive price drop I wouldn’t bother about it.

Out of interest, do many places use Garmin pay ?
The advantage I can see with it is buying something when you’re out in a run - a drink, or something from the shops when you get back as I never take my card or phone with me

Iirc it's more to do with UK banks supporting it - Santander certainly do and I've used it and it works perfectly. Definitely a useful thing to have imo.

My mate has a fore runner 235 for sale, 80 quid ono
I'm looking at getting one of these! Reasonably priced and good reviews. From google I can see it is possible to sync to Strava but nobody seems too confident about it...do you know DA?

Also I will get back to you on the trail shoes tomorrow, I've been sick & off work / super busy.

Yep, syncs to garmin connect and strava via Bluetooth.

I just bought one a fortnight ago and it’s working out class for me, I was a Fitbit wanker before this like so the bar was low!

Today, we turned up for work. My mate has the same vivoactive 3 that I do. He looked a bit peaky and said he felt like he was getting cold or flu or summit. Anyway, he disappeared up to the medic and we thought it was just to get some lemsips or summit. He was gone for about 45 minutes.
When I eventually caught up with him and asked if he was ok, he said "my [garmin] was going mental, vibrating like fuck and showing 'abnormal heartrate' so I went to see the medic, who put me on an ECG and it showed I was having a
Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)- the watch is a very good fitness tracker if it notified that"
The results from the ECG tallied up with what was shown on the Garmin. I was under the impression these weren't that accurate, but obviously they are

And my mate is fine, SVTs aren't that serious

I have the fenix 5x. I use it for maps. It's toppa.
Just got the 5 plus a couple of weeks back, the day before I come back to work so only used it for treadmill running. I’ll have to set the garmin pay up. Over spec’d for what I need but I wanted a watch that looked smart aswell.

I'm glad your friend is ok.

Is this a standard feature with garmin watches that have a heart rate monitor?
