After Life

Maybe he's independently wealthy, maybe his wife was CEO of a fortune 500 company, maybe they had won the lottery.......

Its a TV show, sit back and enjoy.

The beauty of The Office was that it was observed brilliantly down to the last detail.

I just thought the thing was sloppy for Gervais. It wasn't funny either. However, I will stick with it.

It’s watchable but more like that terrible film than The Office. The dog seems to be the best actor in it!
Just compare the drug guy here with Super Hans in peep show for example.
Also - can’t he shop somewhere other than Next? He’s literally stuck in a bootcut 2002

It’s ok so far, no more but I’m early on

I don’t like the bloke anymore and a lot of this is rehashed, lot of 2 dimensional charachters

Maybe it’s because I compare it the office which is just genius, it’s slapstick at times but no show got across the mundane nature of life so well. Tim especially so relatable, unhappy, feels he’s above it but doesn’t do aanything about it

Will stick with this

Few things now I’ve finished it -
1. He’s ducking full of himself - smug, totally sentimental yet desperate to patronisingly lecture the world
2. He’s basically written a part for himself that is him yet he can’t really act it
3. Dennis Pennis, Ashley Jensen and the ginger lass in the office are criminally underused and given barely a funny line between them
4. He’s written it all himself I think. Does that mean Merchant was the brains behind the office? Seems odd but fcking hell has he ran out of ideas ?
5. In the plus side it was nearer Cemetery Junction (which is no great shakes) than the utter shit fest that was that Brent film.
Apart from that it was ok I suppose

Loved the soundtrack, that Nick Cave song (think it’s him) gets me every time

yeah it's the all time killer track Into your arms by cave. This show is brutal but great....Steve Coogan must watch this and think fuck it's miles better than my show....one is relevant and one is outdated..

He's nee genius like. The writing is obvious, facile and incredibly crass at times. The characters are all paper thin and just there for him to bounce off. His brother in law was one off the shittest characters I've ever seen in a TV show and the fat lad was embarrassing too. The gentle tone and the rural setting feel like they've been lifted straight off Detectorists but without any of the charm or subtlety. Baffled why you're all getting your knickers wet about this like.

Fleabag's brilliant. That's proper writing with fully developed characters and subtle as fuck scenes that fuck with your head - everything Gervais seemingly hasn't been able to do since The Office.

It's about awareness, that is the undercurrent of the show, and the main character's increasing awareness of the world around him and his effect on it. Perhaps too subtle for you.

It's as subtle as a sledgehammer. Everything about it is obvious and ridiculously predictable.

he's just ..oh doesn't matter.
There's nowt subtle about overusing the word "c-u-n-t" to the point where you know when it's coming every single time. There's nowt subtle about picking on fat ginger kids or big fat blokes. There's nowt subtle about the druggie being a homeless person who carries his drugs about in a brown paper bag. There's nowt subtle about any of the music he used. I don't think it was utter shit, it's just not very good.

Quite a sensitive chap? You seem as angry as gervais
