Travelling by Car to Wembley

to be honest, if you are not confident, London can be a hell of a place to drive and get to your destination.
it does need some planning, where are you going to park. how to get to Wembley stadium. traffic queues on way back. it took us ages after the league cup final.
google maps from shields to Wembley is 280 miles so 560 return and 4hrs 41 mins journey time each way
if not confident, get a bus down. cost about £50 and you have no worries

Agreed. I think tho if you have second hand experience of a trip it should give you a bit more confidence. What I think I am trying to say is you can feel assured that if you just go and do it, nothing will happen to hinder you and it will be a straight trouble-free run. If the coach got there safely and with little issues such as long traffic queues or incidents and in a decent time, you will. First time every time. You saw the lay of the land so to speak. What to expect. You have experienced it from another point of view and know it will happen for you.

The car park on Fourth Way I have reserved a space in is very handy for getting out. It is real close to Great Central Way. Is a doddle to get to and out of to the B4557 Drury Way. I see a lot of people have got driveways on surrounding residential streets. I am dead close to the stadium. I was lucky with the car parking.

You're right outside the stadium lad, could take a while to get away

The traffic will be horrendous

To those who are driving down what are everyone's plans (when do you plan on leaving etc) and how do you intend to manage fuel consumption? The last bit I know may sound daft but it is important. I don't want to run out just short of Newport Pagnell.

I am driving down and so far my only plan is to (stupid and perhaps desperate I know) use a coach as a sort of pacemaker. If I keep track of it I know I will get to Wembley in time. I have no idea what time I should be leaving or how many fuel stops I need.
But surely there won’t be any petrol or diesel on that day because of Brexit? Forget that it won’t matter I will have died from the lack of medicines by then anyway

That area will be grid locked after game, nowt easy about getting away from there

Often filling a car up adds so much extra weight its cheaper to half fill twice. Its difficult to find the optimal ammount for best mpg on this sort of trip.
Let the lad ponder that for 3 weeks.
Very little in it TBH especially with a Ford Fiesta.

make sure you leave plenty of time and you have good stop off halfway / 3/4 of the way down. so you want to be leaving shields about 6am.
that will give you plenty of time.
after the game, you will be stuck in traffic as it will be manic
make sure you have a good break or 2 on the way back. tiredness kills.
look to be back for 10 / 11pm so long day

SBC is a totally different breed

I believe in Aliens now

The patter comes from Rampton
That's a bit harsh RVF. Seeing you in action yesterday you would be the first person to help him if he was stuck.

It may be a wind-up or outtakes from the Viz letters page.

But maybe the lad really does need help from fellow fans. And for me this is what the board is for.

Of course I would be the first to help, you know that mate

Terrible idea to park there. Cancel that and park further away, ideally by a station.
