Star Trek : Discovery

Stamets is gay iirc. Why that's even relevant in Star Trek is everything that's wrong with it.

The writers are too preoccupied trying to tick boxes imo. They need to concentrate on writing some good stories and drop the virue signalling..
It is more that he is a bit shit and does not do much except get plugged in to the mycelium network. The sexuality of many characters has been shown through the decades and on discovery, so I’m not that bothered about him being gay. Just bothered that he is a crap character.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bothered that he's gay one bit. I just don't see why that's a persistent story element. A person's sexuality is not a storyline. It's 2019 ffs, not 1919.

If I wanted to watch a gay melodrama I'd watch Queer as Folk. I want to see Stars and Treks, not identity politics with CGI.

He's bloody awful.

Apart from Pike and Georgia they're all a bit shit.

Forgot to mention.

I've figured out who the Red Angel is. I say figured out, they literally told you in Season 1 and the character is in almost every episode, so it's pretty obvious. It's interesting where they're going to go with this imo, it might be the storyline that the series is crying out for.

It's..

Dies not add a great deal of depth and complexity to a character for me. ‘Oh look, boring engineering bloke who does nowt is in a relationship. This show is like 10 times better. Don’t want a show about single astronauts’
Was only joking marra, I just like the way he controls the spore drive and he has a cool name, that ep when they jumped about 100 times to knack that Klingon ship was his best bit imo and he knows about quantum stuff, I imagine @professional mackem to be like him.

I have never seen anyone says ‘knows his stuff like @professional mackem’ before ;)

Less so than season 1. This season it's Mary Sue complex.

Agreed. Part of the attraction of Trek was that outside of TOS which was very much an ensemble despite Shatner being the big name, throughout the series you'd have Picard episodes, Data episodes, Quark and Odo etc. Dotted about. This is all about Burnham all the time, even when it's trying to be about someone else.

What really annoys me is how everyone stops and looks at her as she passes. Every time.

Well she is an infamous mutineer who should be serving a life sentence. They're probably wondering when she's next going to try and take over the ship.
