Podcast Thread

The Bugle - hands down, funniest satirical news podcast

No Such Thing as a Fish - QI elves with interesting facts

I listen to a few more but that's enough to be getting on with. A few months ago I cut down from 80 to 25 podcasts as I realised there wasn't a moment of the day which I didn't fill will podcasts! Mind they don't take over your life.
That’s pretty much my download list :)

Others -

Science:
Scienceish - looks at science themes in films, like could we really bring people back from the dead like Flatlinerz, or wipe memories like eternal Sunshine.

Comedy:
The Beef and Dairy Network - the funniest thing I have ever listened to. If nothing else, listen to this.
Friday Night comedy from Radio 4.

History:
Dan Snow’s Hostory Podcast.

Others:
50 things that made the modern economy.
Serial - if you’ve never listened to it, it’s a must. Most downloaded podcast ever.
S-town: stick with it. It’s a brilliant story.
Reasons to be Cheerful with Ed Milliband - thought provoking discussions on lefty political ideas, like wealth tax, universal Basic income, etc. Ed Milliband comes across really well.

And PS Athletico Mince is overrated.

Science and Nature - Skeptics guide to the universe
History - hardcore history, history hit, rex factor
Comedy - Joe rogan, last podcast on the left, bbc friday comedy podcast, athletico mince. guys i f***ed

Just bought myself some fancy new wireless headphones for nightshifts (look at me etc)

Anyway the only podcast I listen to is the Infinite Monkey Cage so I wanted some reccomendations to pack my phone out so I have plenty to go on.

General interests are;

Science and Nature
History
Comedy
Gaming
Movies
Sports

Anyone know of any decent ones? Of course I'm open to stuff I haven't mentioned in my interests. Thanks in advance.

If you like the IMC just have a search through radio 4 podcasts and find gems such as Curious cases or Friday night comedy.

This American Life
The Daily
Hidden Brain

There are others that I listen to occasionally when I see something that I like:

The Art of Manliness
TED Radio Hour
The Moth

Anyone else signed up for the iron filings society?

That’s pretty much my download list :)

Was going to listen to a few of your suggestions, but not anymore, can't be trusted with that last comment.

Can’t take anything you say seriously if you voluntarily spend your time listening to Ed Milliband.

I know. I used to go on long meaningless walks just to catch up. If you listen to number one you get hooked and stress out having to ditch it.

5 live science, the Dr Karl phone in, and the naked scientists, are canny for keeping you up to date with the latest sciency stuff. It pisses me off they broadcast those at 3am on Thursday and 5am on Sunday respectively but all sorts of other shite during the day. And we wonder why the world's turning to shit.

Most of my podcasts are highly political or Sunderland nowadays. No wonder I’m miserable! If anyone can reccomend a decent music one that’d be class.

British History podcast or the History of Rome are good if really detailed History is your thing.
