Broadband : bt v plusnet

box2box

Striker
just finished a bt broadband (50m) plus anytime calls at £39/m and they are now charging £53/m for same. Plusnet are £36 with calls

Are plusnet decent ?

Ive never had an issue with them in the years I've been with them.

Plusnet runs on BT, get the same shit router and everything

I had bt and the speed was fine, but price went right up - swapped to plusnet for a fraction

Needed to buy a better router though

Over time I've been with a lot of providers and while broadly acceptable there were always niggles of one sort or another. Eventually I ended up with BT and have never had a peep of trouble. I stay with them just for that fact alone even though they sting me on price.

Are plus net not owned by BT? Just ring BT and tell them you've been quoted £xx by plus net, and they will match it , tell them to feck off, and they will beat it

Owned by BT.
Ran separately.
Completely different routers.

Apart from that, spot on mate!

PS . Op, BT have always been better imo. Plus net were ok, but BT always trumped them for me. Plusnet used to sneakily throttle (Although done think they do now) even at full speed (so they said) the sync speeds were consistently lower on plusnet than they were on BT. They agreed, so cancelled without charge and i went back to BT.

Tried in two properties now, same story in both.

Phone BT and haggle. The missus did when our contract was up. Got the the top broadband, line rental, entertainment pack HD with BT sports and one mobile for about £50.

I did the same and noticed no difference, plusnet been spot on. Just use the Bt homehub instead of the new router

I’ve just switched and the router is exactly the same

The BT router is fine. As good as any major provider.

The super fast cable is excellent.

If your price at renewal goes up , phone them and negotiate. They soon knock £20 off.

I have bt broadband currently, if i switch to plusnet can I keep the same router ?

Bt so far bt won’t budge on £50 for broadband and anytime calls, shame plusnet are £38 for the same

I’m using bt router with plusnet fibre no problem

No issues with Plusnet for me, been with them since 2012. Previously had Orange and Sky broadband and Plusnet have been a cut above.

Putting aside VM cable do one companies routers work with another? For instance I've got a sky Q router from last contract and it was better than my current Vodafone thing will the sky router work with VF?
