Abducted In Plain Sight

The parents obviously made daft mistakes, but I think people need to remind themselves of the context here.

This happened in a small town in 70's Northwestern America. It's easy to criticise the parents looking at it all through the prism of today's world and how clued up we all are now re: paedos and how they target their victims etc.

Fancy asking for relief in the form of masturbation from another man Berb.

They dropped the charges to preserve their reputation.

For that alone they should be stoned to death.

I suspect this part of it was underplayed. There were a couple of references but they seemed to be a common theme throughout, met in the church, the psychologist they referred him to, the Dad asking the bishop for advice. I wonder how much they were leant on to keep it quiet so as to not embarrass the church.
Mental documentary.

The FBI man mentioned they were LDS once which I figured stood for Latter Day Saints... is that the Mormons like?

I was also trying to insinuate (possibly unfairly) they were morons

Aye.

watched this over the weekend. Can't get my head round 90% of it. Mental
Even given the context of it being different times, they still suspected he was a wrong 'un but went along with it and didn't report her missing for days. Truly bizarre documentary but for shock value, nowt will beat the Dad in the car.

it was the phone calls to the mam that did me

Do you still want to marry her?

Yes

Eeeeee what are you two like

I'm only 9 mins I to this and already I'm shrieking 'what?' I appreciate times were different but the parents' manner and approach to their missing child is unbelievable. She didn't want to bother anyone??

I watched the first half where we see her get abducted and then what goes on with him and the parents, then I just completely lost interest so will have to watch the second half when i have chance.
