Why have wickets around the world got so slow?

Surely pace is good for the game? Surely it gets crowds in? And surely the knowledge on how to produce good wickets has improved over time?

I actually think they've been better recently, its Australia mainly that is the problem, so poor drop in pitches

Me as well, they’ve did well apart from the last hour
