So, before you’re old enough to legally play most popular games then?
You put it in the living room with a second telly and play it while your lass is on the other settee watching whatever shite reality tv women watch.
Anyone still trotting out the line that games are for kids is clearly still stuck in the last century.
21st century gaming as as much a valid past time as watching TV or going to the cinema. This is backed up by the huge sums of money spent on both producing and buying games, and by the average gamer’s age, which was 36 last time I looked. That means there are as many 56 year old gamers as 16 year olds.
I am very sceptical of those figures mind. I've just went and had a look and some of them reckon that women make up almost half of people who play some form of video game, which means they're almost certainly taking into account things like games on smartphones and on Facebook and the like.
Sony themselves reckoned that a few years after the PS3 was released, 90% of console owners were men aged 18-35: Sony: Males 18-35 Make Up 80% of Home Users.
If you're talking console and PC gamers, they are overwhelmingly male and overwhelmingly under 40, though of course, the over 40s group is growing massively and will continue to do so as people who were young teenagers when the PS1 was released are hitting their late 30s now.
