Personal details given to online scam

My lass(no) got sent this link via WhatsApp from someone she trusts this morning...

Free £125 voucher (173 remaining)

It asks you to forward to 15 friends and to enter your personal details... Name, address, e-mail address, phone number.

After all that she realised it wasn't legit and left the site.

Other than burning the house down and shiting in her knicker drawer, what should we do?

These are common. They get sent out to one phone then send themselves to everyone in your contacts list.

Tell your lass to txt her nearest and dearest and tell them She didn't send them that message and not to click it. Everyone in her contacts will have recieved that msg from her.

There's some really clever IT bods get on here and I'm sure they will chip in with advice.

My suggestion would be to find out exactly what personal details may have been revealed. Only then can you plot a course of action.

change her email address and phone number - only way to be sure as she cant change her name or address but that will be common knowledge anyway.

He said she only gave Name, address, e-mail address, phone number.

Some very intelligent scams about nobody is safe online people need to remember that. All you can do is wise up and hope for the best.

See
Name, address, e-mail address, phone number.
No IT bod can help him. He's already given his details.

Apart from close email accounts, change address, change phone number and get a name change by deed poll there's not much you can do once you've given them your details.

Hopefully for OP nothing comes of it.

Having her name, address and phone number is neither here nor there, you can easily get that from phone books etc. online - email address will be a pain as it will be now on spamming lists - as long as she didn't set up an account and use a password, which invariably will be the same password she uses for other things, or god forbid credit card details, she should be ok - I'm presuming you've scanned all your devices for any root kits and the like ?

It goes without saying that posters SHOULD NOT CLICK ON THAT LINK IN OP.

I've sent it to Trendmicro for testing but chances are it'll have some nasty cookies attached to it.

Probably too late now but if your lass does any banking/shopping on her phone tell her to delete ALL browser cookies from her phone. If the scammers can get her cookies from online banking/shopping then they'll have her card details.
