How much do you spend on hobbies?

Following on from the other “look at me” threads. Got me thinking what do I spend most of my money on.

Fishing is the answer.
At least £50 a week in bait and Comp fees.

The biggest single item being £3k fishing pole.
Rods for £500
Reels £200 ish
I may even have a count up later of stuff I have (they have their own house)

So may rainy day question is what’s your hobby and how much does it cost. I think a lot of people will get a shock when they start adding it up.

3k on a rod? Fook me pink.

I once spent that on a pair of wheels. It can be a very very expensive hobby.

General rule of thumb with the missus is I tell her everything was half the actual cost - 10%.

Half cost? Are you mad?

That’s just phase one of the deception. I then say something like “Well think how many miles I get out of them or how much time I’m now going to spend on my bike because of said shiny new purchase... now equate that to pounds per mile, it’s a bargain”

I’ll then be very subservient for a few days and just waltz straight back in there as though it never happened.

My wife puts up with a lot of shit really.

So does mine. I have vespa scooters. They are a money pit.

3k on a rod though. Bloody hell.

I’ve always fancied one of those for pootling around on. Can you soup them up a bit so they are a bit quicker.

Yeah, 3k on a length of what I’d guess is carbon could be seen as a bit excessive like!

Aye that about right. I once told her that a fishing holiday to Africa was paid for by my sponsors.

No matter what your hobby is be it a stupid amount of money on wheels, a new rod for fishing or new golf gear you don't need if you get enjoyment from it its worth it.
Thats how I justify it anyway.

I remember paying 160quid for 2 pairs of footy boots 20odd year ago - what I spend on golf gear now is similar in the fact that it is spent so that i enjoy my free time

Me Vespa, T5 Classic, 125cc with malossi exhaust.
£5 to fill up, £1.97 a month to tax. Bout £150 on mot, spares and service per year
£300 on helmet, riding gear / safety gear already bought)
£200+ on digs, beer money, bait & petrol when going to Kelso for the rally
Could easy spend another £1000 on a new paint job, tyres, wheels & exhaust
Would also have to spend up to £450 to pass full test

I fancy my bike license like

£650 a year golf membership at Whitburn and about £200 a year on various concert tickets.

God knows how much on eating / drinking out with Mrs and friends.
