Labrador Retriever

I know they are black n white but boarder collies are magnificent dogs

Urban myth.

If you're a bloke you rescue a dog, if it needs specialist training you train it. Simple.

No, incorrect. I have trained dogs, I have had a rescue dog, it shat on the mat every night for 2 years, wouldnt leave the house when raining or dark, I think the poor fucker had been kicked out into the garden on a night, then she learned how to jump over our garden fence, I had to take her back, it was f***ing horrible. I tried for 2 years, but she was already programmed from her earlier experiences

:( Makes me shudder what some poor dogs must have gone through.

It must be terrible. I am not saying all rescue dogs are impossible to train, people just need to be aware that some will have huge problems, she was such a gentle, loveable dog as well (apart from eating holes in 3 of my coats, but thats another story :) )

You love them but they are uncontrollable so you have to make a difficult decision. Managed to get a badly treated border collie to really calm down a bit and its the happiest dog alive now. It wasn't that badly treated just kept outside on a rope most of the time. It did somersaults if it saw another dog if it was on the leader.

She was a Collie Alsation cross,as I said lovely gentle girl, unless my coats were involved (or Badgers, ffs all the memories coming back now)

Anyone recommend another breed that would fit in well with a Lab.
When we get Harley's medical issues sorted next year, we are thinking of getting a second dog.
I would get another Lab, but the rest of the family want a smaller dog.

Just go out and buy the dog you want before them, take it home and tell them you will take him back if they don't want him and you have the receipt.

I've got a 4 month old labradoodle. She looks 90 percent lab which is fine by me, mother was all lab, father doodle. I'm not arsed about all that shite, the rest of the litter were all the curly haired fashionistas, she is flat coated and f***ing fantastic, my first dog in 15 years. I'm retired so can put in the time, effort and money thankfully to give her a good life.

On the other side she gets me out for fresh air and exercise. She's been so easy to train, she's a clever little bugger and my history is Border Collies that could almost do Pythagoras so I know intelligent dogs when I see them.

Loves dried penis too the little slut.
